Έφυγε από τη ζωή στα 86 του χρόνια ο γνωστός καθηγητής της Καινής Διαθήκης Robert Jewett. Ο εκλιπών δίδαξε σε πολλά πανεπιστήμια και σεμινάρια, όπως στο Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary και στα Πανεπιστήμια του Lampeter, και της Heidelberg. Έγραψε πολλές και μεγάλες μελέτες κυρίως για τις επιστολές του Παύλου. Ενδεικτικά αναφέρω εδώ τα Paul's Anthropological Terms: A Study of Their Use in Conflict Settings (1971), A Chronology of Paul's Life (1982), The Thessalonian Correspondence: Pauline Rhetoric and Millenarian Piety (1986), Saint Paul at the Movies: The Apostle's Dialogue with American Culture (1993), Paul the Apostle to America: Cultural Trends and Pauline Scholarship (1994) και Saint Paul Returns to the Movies: Triumph over Shame (1999). Έγινε κυρίως γνωστός από το υπόμνημά του στην επιστολή προς Ρωμαίους (στη σειρά Hermeneia, Fortress Press 2008) αποτελεί σημαντική συμβολή στη μελέτη της επιστολής (βραβεύτηκε το 2009 από την Biblical Archaeology Association). Τιμήθηκε ως επίτιμος διδάκτορας από διάφορα πανεπιστήμια και διετέλεσε μέλος σε εκδοτικές επιτροπές και διεθνείς επιστημονικές εταιρίες.
