Στη μελέτη εξετάζεται ένα παράξενο ζεύγος τελειών που συχνά εμφανίζονται σε συντετμημένη μορφή στον Σιναϊτικό Κώδικα. Η μη τακτική εμφάνισή τους στον κώδικα και η λειτουργία που επιτελούν μέσα σε αυτόν αποτελεί αντικείμενο διερεύνησης. Ο συγγραφέας προσπαθεί να απαντήσει το ερώτημα λαμβάνοντας υπόψη του την ταυτότητα των αντιγραφέων του Κώδικα, τη σχέση μεταξύ σύνθετων συντετμημένων αριθμών και των nomina sacra καθώς και την πιθανότητα ύπαρξης ενός συγκεκριμένου συστήματος ανάγνωσης. Υποστηρίζει ότι δεν υπάρχει κάποιος ιδιαίτερος λόγος που οι αντιγραφείς του Κώδικα παραλείπουν σε κάποιες περιπτώσεις τις τελείες. Επομένως αυτή η ασυνέπεια οφείλεται στο ότι κάποιες φορές οι αντιγραφείς πιθανόν απλά ξέχασαν να χρησιμοποιήσουν τις τελείες.

Ένα νέο σπάραγμα του Codex Sinaiticus / A new fragment of Codex Sinaiticus

Από τον ιστολόγιο του Marc Goodacre πληροφορούμαστε για ένα δημοσίευμα της Independent το οποίο ανακοινώνει την ανακάλυψη ενός ακόμη σπαράγματος του Codex Sinaiticus. Η ανεύρεσή είχε ανακοινωθεί νωρίτερα ήδη κατά τη διάρκεια του συνεδρίου για τον Σιναϊτικό Κώδικα (τον Ιούλιο) και το είχαμε κι εμείς αναφέρει σε παλαιότερη ανάρτηση.
Σύμφωνα με το νέο δημοσίευμα το τμήμα αυτό του κώδικα, το οποίο χρονολογείται στα 530 μ.Χ., εντοπίσθηκε από έναν Έλληνα φοιτητή επί διδακτορικώ, ο οποίος σπουδάζει στην Αγγλία κι εργάζεται επίσης στο πρόγραμμα ψηφιοποίησης του Σιναϊτικού, τον κ. Νικόλαο Σαρρή. Ο Σαρρής εντόπισε το σπάραγμα σε φωτογραφίες χειρογράφων της Μονής του Σινά και το ταυτοποίησε με βάση παλαιγραφικά κριτήρια.
Ο Marc Goodacre παραπέμπει επίσης σε ένα ενδιαφέρον άρθρο του Nicholas Pichwoad (πατήστε εδώ) καθώς και σε παλαιότερο δημοσίευμα του Economist.

Ένα νέο φύλλο του Codex Sinaiticus

Codex Sinaiticus

Σήμερα ξεκίνησαν οι εργασίες του συνεδρίου για τον Codex Sinaiticus, στο οποίο αναφερθήκαμε σε παλαιότερη ανάρτηση.
