Από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Mohr Siebeck κυκλοφόρησε ένα νέο βιβλίο που εστιάζει στις παραβολές και στον παραβολικό λόγο της επί του Όρους Ομιλίας. Ο συγγραφέας του, Ernst Baasland, ομότιμος καθηγητής της Καινής Διαθήκης του Πανεπιστημίου του Όσλο, εστιάζει στη ρητορική της επί της Όρους Ομιλίας και στις παραβολές που περιέχονται σε αυτήν. Ένα νέο βιβλίο για την επί του Όρους Ομιλία / A new book on the Sermon on the Mount

Από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Mohr Siebeck κυκλοφόρησε η μελέτη του Ernst Baasland για τις παραβολές και τη θέση τους μέσα στην Επί του Όρους Ομιλία, ένα θέμα, το οποίο δεν έτυχε αρκετής προσοχής στην προηγούμενη έρευνα. Ο Baasland παρατηρεί ότι περισσότερο από το ένα τρίτο της Ομιλίας είναι δομημένο με βάση τον παραβολικό λόγο κι εξετάζει, τις παραβολές, τον μεταφορικό λόγο και την ρητορική δομή της συγκεκριμένης ενότητας. H παρούσα μελέτη αξιολογεί το βαθμό στον οποίο οι ρητορικές στρατηγίκές του Παύλου μπορούν να συγκριθούν με εκείνες που περιγράφονται στο κεφ. ΙΙ της Ρητορικής του Αριστοτέλη. Καθιστά σαφές ότι τα αριστοτελικά μέτρα είναι τελικά μη ικανοποιητικά για τη ρητορική κατάσταση του Παύλου και προτείνει ότι η ρητορική που υιοθετεί ο Παύλος του ελέγχου μπορεί να θεωρηθεί ότι ακολουθεί πιστά τη ρητορική του προφήτη Ιερεμία, ο οποίος υιοθετεί τη ρητορική του ελέγχου για να επανεδραιώσει τον κοινωνικό χαρακτήρα της δικαιοσύνης στον ιουδαϊκό λαό που αποστατεί με τον τρόπο που και ο Παύλος χρησιμοποιεί μια τέτοια ρητορικά για να εδραιώσει τον κοινωνικό χαρακτήρ σε μία νέα εκκλησία.

"Ruth Webb's is the fullest, most accurate and most informative study of ekphrasis as an ancient rhetorical term. It looks at all the relevant treatises from the first century CE (if the dating of Theon is correct) through to the sixth century. It carefully articulates how these texts make sense in a context and explores the rhetorical schooling and formal training in which the exercise of ekphrasis took place. It explores the intellectual framing through discussions of enargeia and phantasia and it looks at brief examples of late Greek literature to see how this training flows into texts of high culture in the Greek-speaking Roman Empire. It includes in an appendix texts and translations of the rarer and more difficult to find passages from the rhetorical manuals. "

Στο άρθρο παρουσιάζονται δύο αντιφατικές όψεις του πρωταγωνιστή του βιβλίου του Ιώβ: ο Ιώβ ο υπομονετικός, ο Ιώβ ο επαναστάτης. Οι αρχαίες ιουδαϊκές ερμηνείες επαινούν τον Ιώβ τον υπομονετικό και καταδικάζουν, ή τουλάχιστον δεν επαινούν, τον Ιώβ τον επαναστάτη. Από την άλλη οι σύγχρονες ιουδαϊκές ερμηνείες επαινούν τον επαναστάτη Ιώβ και δείχνουν ελάχιστο σεβασμό για τον υπομονετικό, ευσεβή Ιώβ της ιστορίας. Ο επαναστάτης Ιώβ γίνεται το πρότυπο της ειλικρίνειας ή της αυθεντικότητας, μία βασική αξία για το σύγχρονο κόσμο. Ο υπομονετικός Ιώβ που υπομονετικά υπομένει, τον οποίο πρόβαλε η αρχαιότητα, είναι το λιγότερο μία αμφιλεγόμενη προσωπικότητα.

Στα 1963, όταν η "γλωσσολογική στροφή" άρχισε να επηρεάζει και τις καινοδιαθηκικές σπουδές, ο Albert Vanhoye, ένας καθολικός ιερέας με σπουδές στη γλωσσολογία, δημοσίευσε μία μονογραφία με τον τίτλο La structure littéraire de l'épître aux Hébreux. Οι ποικίλες αντιδράσεις στην εκπλεπτισμένη φιλολογική-ρητορική προσέγγισή του και στα συμπεράσματά του για μία ομόκεντρη δομή της επιστολής κινήθηκαν από την πολύ θετική αποδοχή μέχρι την επιθετική απόρριψη. Μαζί με τη μετάφραση του έργου του στα γερμανικά (1979/80) και μία δεκαετία αργότερα στα αγγλικά (1989), η μελέτη του Vanhoye επηρέασε κι έδωσε νέα ώθηση στη μελέτη της προς Εβραίους επιστολής όσο καμιά άλλη κατά τον 20ο αιώνα.
