Ο Philip Jenkins συζητά ένα άγνωστο λόγιο του Ιησού για τα θαυμαστά αμπέλια το οποίο διασώζει ο Ειρηναίος ως προερχόμενο από το έργο του Παπία και εξετάζει τον τρόπο που χρησιμοποιείται το μοτίβο των 10.000 σε αυτό αλλά και σε άλλα κείμενα, ιουδαϊκά και χριστιανικά:
