Summary:

The volume contains the papers presented at the 2012 meeting of the Colloquium Oecumenicum Paulinum in Rome. Two essays provide detailed exegetical coverage of the text of the whole of 2 Thessalonians. In addition, there is discussion of more general issues concerning Pauline authorship in the Pauline corpus of letters. The essays throw new light on the way in which this small, and often marginalized, letter might relate to 1 Thessalonians and to the rest of the Pauline corpus. The rest of the volume treats some key texts in the study of Pauline eschatology, and raises many issues in this important aspect of Pauline theology. The volume will be important for all those engaged with study of Paul and the Pauline letters as well as those interested in eschatology and apocalyptic ideas within early Christianity.

Περίληψη του εκδοτικού οίκου

Ο παρόν τόμος περιέχει τις εισηγήσεις της 19ης συνάντησης του Corpus Oecumenicum Paulinum, που έλαβε χώρα στο Αββαείο του Αγ. Παύλου (Ρώμη) το Σεπτέμβριο του 2006. Η Α΄ Τιμ ήταν το θέμα των 8 εισηγήσεων, μολονότι συχνά εξετάζεται και η σχέση της προς τη Β΄ Τιμ, προς Τίτον και τα άλλα παύλεια κείμενα. Ένα θέμα, το οποίο αναπτύσσεται διεξοδικά, είναι εκείνο της ψευδωνυμίας και της σπουδαιότητάς της ως ερμηνευτικού εργαλείου. Σε κάποιες από τις εισηγήσεις προτείνεται μια ευρύτερη αντίληψη του τρόπου συγγραφής των παύλειων επιστολών, όπου υπάρχει χώρος και για την εξουσιοδότηση και από κοινού συγγραφή με συνεργάτες σε διάφορες εκκλησιαστικές κοινότητες. Ο αναγνώστης αυτού του τόμου μπορεί επίσης να βρει μία επανεξέταση των θεολογικών θεμάτων, που απαντούν στην 1 Τιμ, όπως τη σχέση της χάριτος προς διάφορες ετερόνομες στάσεις ζωής όπως είναι ο ασκητισμός, όπως ο λεγόμενος προσαρμοστικός χαρακτήρας της επιστολής, ιδιαίτερα στη σχέση της ευσέβειας προς στον αστικό Χριστιανισμό. Τέλος εξετάζεται, εάν η χρήση του όρου "οίκος" είναι μία πραγματικά μία παρερμηνεία του τρόπου που κατανοεί ο Παύλος την εκκλησία. Πρόεδρος των συναντήσεων ήταν ο K.
