Το βιβλίο αυτό αποτελεί ένα από τα πιο εύχρηστα και πολύτιμα εργαλεία για όσους ασχολούνται με τις ελληνικές επιγραφές είτε ως ιστορικοί είτε ως βιβλικοί επιστήμονες, διότι, εκτός από το ότι αποτελεί ένα από τα πιο σύγχρονα εγχειρίδια της ελληνικής επιγραφικής (έχει δηλαδή υπόψη του τα νεότερα πορίσματα της επιγραφικής), περιλαμβάνει και ορισμένα κεφάλαια ιδιαίτερα χρήσιμα για όσους μελετούν τον ελληνορωμαϊκό κόσμο και μάλιστα σε σχέση με την Καινή Διαθήκη, όπως για παράδειγμα ένα κεφάλαιο για τις ιουδαϊκές επιτάφιες επιγραφές ή εκείνο για την εξέλιξη της ελληνιστικής κοινής, όπως αυτή μαρτυρείται στις επιγραφές.
