Περιγραφή εκδοτικού οίκου

Η επιστολή του αγίου Ιακώβου ορθά χαρακτηρίστηκε ως σοβαρή αφυπνιστική κραυγή που απευθύνεται προς τους χριστιανούς όλων των εποχών. Δεν αποτελεί απλή παράθεση χρήσιμων ηθικοπρακτικών συμβουλών ούτε έχει τον πεζό χαρακτήρα της χρηστομάθειας, αλλά είναι μάλλον μια ζωντανή, από πηγαία πίστη και ελπίδα στον Ιησού Χριστό, αντιμετώπιση επειγόντων ηθικών και κοινωνικών προβλημάτων των πρώτων χριστιανικών κοινοτήτων. Οι περιστάσεις που έδωσαν αφορμή στον άγιο Ιάκωβο να αντιμετωπίσει, από την άποψη της χριστιανικής πίστης, προβλήματα που προέκυψαν στη σχέση της χριστιανικής κοινότητας με το κοινωνικό της περιβάλλον καθιστούν την βαθύτερη μελέτη της επιστολής επίκαιρη και ενδιαφέρουσα. Η ακριβής ανάλυση του περιεχομένου της και η ορθή ερμηνεία των επιμέρους θεμάτων της θα μπορούσε να πλουτίσει τις γνώσεις μας για τον πρώτο χριστιανισμό.
Εξάλλου, η πραγμάτευση στην επιστολή θεμάτων όπως η πίστη και το Ευχέλαιο αυξάνει ακόμη περισσότερο το ενδιαφέρον που παρουσιάζει για τον μελετητή. Πέρα απ' όλα αυτά, μέσα από κάθε στίχο της επιστολής, ο λόγος του Θεού μιλά προς τον μεν αμαρτωλό άνθρωπο θέτοντάς τον υπό την κρίση του Θεού, προς τον δε μετανοούντα ενσταλάζοντάς του την παράκληση και την ελπίδα της λύτρωσης.

Συνέδριο βιβλικής (εβραϊκής και ελληνικής) λεξικογραφίας / Colloquium on the biblical (Hebrew and Greek) lexicography

Στο διάστημα 9-12 Σεπτεμβρίου 2012 θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Στρασβούργου (Τμήματα Ευαγγελικής και Ρωμαιοκαθολικής Θεολογίας) συνέδριο με τον τίτλο: "La lexicographie biblique - hébreu & grec: sémantique - exégèse - traduction". Παραθέτουμε την περιγραφή των διοργανωτών και το πρόγραμμα του συνεδρίου:

"Lexicography, together with grammatical studies and textual criticism, forms the basis of biblical exegesis. Recent decades have seen much progress in this field, yet increasing specialization also tends to have the paradoxical effect of turning exegesis into an independent discipline, while leaving lexicography to the experts. The Strasbourg colloquium will seek to renew and intensify the exchange

between the study of words and the study of texts. This will be done in reference to both the Hebrew source text and the earliest Greek translation, the Septuagint. Hebrew and Septuagint lexicography have always been intertwined to a certain extent and the explicit dialogue between disciplines is hoped to prove beneficial for both. The colloquium will be a forum where new methods and results can be exposed and discussed. Questions to be addressed are how linguistic meaning is effected, how it relates to words, and how words may be translated into another language, in Antiquity and today. Etymology, semantic fields, syntagmatic relations, word history, neologisms—all are relevant. At the same time, the colloquium is open to wider issues of interpretation. The meaning of texts interacts with the meaning of words, yet cannot be reduced to it."

Σε αυτό το άρθρο ο συγγραφέας αποδεικνύει ότι ένα χωρίο του Παπία που διασώζεται στην αρμενική εκδοχή του υπομνήματος στην Αποκάλυψη του Ανδρέα Καισαρείας πρέπει να αποδοθεί σε ένα κατά τα άλλα άγνωστο δανιηλικό ψευδεπίγραφο, το οποίο είναι ο αρχαιότερος μάρτυρας μίας παράξενης παράδοσης. Σύμφωνα με αυτήν οι Φύλακες ήταν καλά αγγελικά όντα που μαζί με τον Μιχαήλ απεκάλυψαν στον Μωυσή το Νόμο.

O συγγραφέας εξετάζει το φαινόμενο μείωσης του ανθρώπινου προσδόκιμου στο βιβλίο των Ιωβηλαίων και υποστηρίζει ότι δεν έχει δοθεί η απαραίτητη προσοχή στη σπουδαιότητα αυτού του μοτίβου. Εξετάζει τρία διαφορετικά φιλολογικά είδη στα Ιωβηλαία - τις πληροφορίες θανάτου, μία αποκάλυψη και μία εκτενή αφήγηση - και καταδεικνύει ότι η έμφαση στο μειούμενο ανθρώπινο προσδόκιμο ενοποιεί θεματικά αυτές τις διαφορετικές προσθήκες στις ιστορίες της Γενέσεως στις οποίες αυτά στηρίζονται. Η μείωση της διάρκειας της ανθρώπινης ζωής συνδέεται τόσο με το χρονολογικό σύστημα του βιβλίου και με το ενδιαφέρον του για την υπακοή στη διαθήκη και ιδιαίτερα όσον αφορά στην εντολή απόδοσης τιμής και σεβασμού στους γονείς. 

Jason Zurawski, "Separating the Devil from the "diabolos" : a fresh reading of wisdom of Solomon 2.24", 366-399

H χαρακτηριστική αγγλική μετάφραση του Σοφία 2, 24 αποδίδει το κείμενο ως εξής: 'But through the devil's envy death entered the world, and those who belong to his company experience it' (NRSV).  Οι περισσότεροι ερευνητές που ασχολήθηκαν με αυτό το κείμενο θεωρούν δεδομένη την παρουσία του διαβόλου μέσα σε αυτό το κείμενο και κατανοούν τον στίχο ως μία από τις πρώτες αναφορές στο διάβολο ως το φίδι του Γεν 3. Δυστυχώς, δόθηκε στον διάβολο μία θέση μέσα στο κείμενο, η οποία δεν του ανήκει. Μέσα από τη φιλολογική και κειμενική ανάλυση ο συγγραφέας αποπειράται να διαβάζει εκ νέου το Σοφία 2, 24 με έναν τρόπο που θα είναι περισσότερο συνεπής στο ελληνικό κείμενο και στη γενικότερη κοσμοθεωρία του συγγραφέα. Αυτή η ανάγνωση οδηγεί σε μία καλύτερη κατανόηση βασικών θεολογικών ζητημάτων του κειμένου όπως είναι η θεοδικία, η σωτηριολογία και οι γενικότερες αντιλήψεις για τη ζωή και το θάνατο.

Σε αυτό το άρθρο συγκρίνονται τρεις εκδοχές μίας ραβινικής ιστορίας, η οποία πραγματεύεται το θέμα της λεγόμενης ακαθαρσίας των γυναικών κατά την έμμηνο ρύση και τις βιβλικές της καταβολές. Καθώς οι ραβινικές ιστορίες χρησιμοποιούνται πάντοτε για να στηρίξουν κάποιο επιχείρημα μέσα στη συνάφεια στην οποία παραδίδονται, είτε αυτή είναι ταλμουδική είτε μιδρασική, η συγγραφέας δίνει ιδιαίτερη προσοχή στην ιδιαίτερη λειτουργία που έχει η ιστορία σε κάθε συνάφεια.

Το γεγονός ότι τα διάφορα κείμενα της Κ.Δ. υπογραμμίζουν την ηθική σημασία της καθαρότητας δεν εμπόδισε να δοθεί - και στην Ανατολή και στη Δύση - έμφαση σε περισσότερο παραδοσιακές αντιλήψεις για την καθαρότητα. Η συγγραφέας εστιάζει το ενδιαφέρον της σε διαφορετικές προσλήψεις της "ακαθαρσίας"  μέσα στη βυζαντινή ιστορία του δικαίου. Ασχολείται κυρίως με ταμπού που έχουν σχέση με τις τροφές, αλλά και με τη λατρευτική διάσταση της αγαμίας και με άλλα σχετικά ζητήματα όπως την έμμηνο ρύση και την γέννηση του παιδιού.  

Markus Lau, "Blutige Hände: Beobachtungen zur Rezeption alttestamentlicher Motive in Mt 27,24f.", 42-76

Ο συγγραφέας εστιάζει το ενδιαφέρον του στην ανάλυση των μοτίβων και στην ερμηνεία του Μτ 27, 24-25.  Σε αυτήν τη συνάφεια η πρόσληψη από τον Μτ του Δευτ 21, 1-9 σε συνδυασμό με τις παραδόσεις για την κατάρα του αίματος στην Π.Δ. φαίνεται να είναι μία έξυπνη έμμεση αναφορά και αντιστροφή του ιουδαϊκού τυπικού για τους καθαρμούς. Η δραματοποίηση από τον Μτ του τελετουργικού της πλύσης των χειρών, που συνδέεται με τέτοιες αναφορές, χαρακτηρίζει επίσης και κάποιους από τους χαρακτήρες της αφήγησης για τη δίκη του Ιησού και μάλιστα σε σχέση με το ζήτημα της ενοχής. Ιδιαίτερα η ελίτ - ο Πιλάτος και οι αρχιερείς και οι πρεσβύτεροι - παρουσιάζονται αρνητικά στο Μτ. Σε ένα τελευταίο μέρος της συζήτησης οι παρατηρήσεις που έγιναν στα προηγούμενα μέρη του άρθρου συνδέονται με τη σημασία που μπορεί να είχαν για την κοινότητα του Μτ.

O συγγραφέας παρουσιάζει τη μεγάλη ευκολία που παρέχουν πλέον διάφορα διαδικτυακά εργαλεία στην πρόσβαση βιβλίων, απαραίτητων σε κάθε ερευνητή που εξετάζει την ιστορία της έρευνας ενός θέματος (π.χ. archives.org, google books κτλ) και τονίζει ότι για αυτόν το λόγο σήμερα περισσότερο από ποτέ είναι αναγκαίο οι νέοι ερευνητές να γνωρίζουν γλώσσες όπως λατινικά και γερμανικά.

Εξαιτίας του ιδιαίτερου χαρακτήρα του αυτό το κείμενο ελκύει την προσοχή του ερμηνευτή, ο οποίος στρέφει το ενδιαφέρον του στο προφορικό προφητικό κήρυγμα.

Ο συγγραφέας του παρόντος άρθρου εξετάζει τον Ψα 69 υπό το πρίσμα του δίπολου τιμή - αισχύνη, το οποίο διαδραμάτιζε ως γνωστόν σημαντικό ρόλο στους πολιτισμούς της αρχαίας Μεσογείου. Η δημόσια προσβολή σε αυτές τις κουλτούρες σήμαινε ουσιαστικά εξόντωση του άλλου, για αυτό το λόγο τέτοιες πρακτικές καταδικάζονται στην ηθική του Ισραήλ και κυρίως στα ραβινικά κείμενα.

Ένα νέο ενδιαφέρον εύρημα / A new interesting finding

Σύμφωνα με δημοσίευμα της Haaretz ο πέτρινος σφραγιδόλιθος, που βρέθηκε στις ανασκαφές του Tel Beit Shemesh, ίσως αποτελεί την πρώτη αρχαιολογική απόδειξη της ιστορίας του Σαμψών. 

Πρόκειται για πέτρινο σφραγιδόλιθο, με μέγεθος 1,5 εκ., που απεικονίζει ένα μεγάλο ζώο δίπλα σε έναν άνθρωπο (φωτό). Ειδικοί εκτιμούν ότι ίσως πρόκειται για απεικόνιση της ιστορίας της πάλης του Σαμψών με ένα λιοντάρι. Χρονολογείται στον 11ο αι. π.Χ., στην περίοδο των Κριτών. 

Οι αρχαιολόγοι της ανασκαφής Prof. Shlomo Bunimovitz and Dr. Zvi Lederman (Πανεπιστήμιο του Tel Aviv) δε θεωρούν ότι πρόκειται για απεικόνιση του Σαμψών που αντιμετωπίζει ένα λιοντάρι. Υποστηρίζουν ότι στην περιοχή (στην οποία σύμφωνα με τη βιβλική ιστορία έζησε ο Σαμψών) ήταν διαδεδομένος ένας μύθος για έναν ήρωα που σκοτώνει ένα λιοντάρι. Η ίδια ιστορία αποδόθηκε στην παράδοση στο πρόσωπο του Σαμψών. 

H είδηση έκανε το γύρο σε ιστοσελίδες και βιβλικά ιστολόγια.

[Α.T. Oπωσδήποτε το εύρημα είναι εξαιρετικά ενδιαφέρον όμως οι αρχαιολόγοι δικαιολογημένα διατηρούν τις επιφυλάξεις τους και συνδέουν την εικόνα με ένα γενικότερο θέμα στις τοπικές παραδόσεις της περιοχής. Τίποτε στην εικόνα δεν συνδέει άμεσα την παράσταση με τον γνωστό ήρωα της Π.Δ. Αυτό βέβαια δεν ακυρώνει την σημασία του ευρήματος, απλά το τοποθετεί σε ένα ευρύτερο πλαίσιο παραδόσεων. Αρχαία ναυάγια σε βαθιά νερά / Ancient shipwrecks in deep waters

Σύμφωνα με δημοσιεύματα του τύπου κατά την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα ανοικτά της Κέρκυρας βρέθηκαν τα υπολείμματα τριών ναυαγίων της ρωμαϊκής περιόδου (σύμφωνα με μια πρώτη εκτίμηση του 3ου αι. μ.Χ.). Το ενδιαφέρον στοιχείο σύμφωνα με την εκτίμηση των ειδικών είναι ότι η ανεύρεσή τους στα βαθιά νερά καταρρίπτει την παλαιότερη αντίληψη ότι τα τα καράβια της αρχαιότητας έπλεαν κατά μήκος των ακτών. Τα συχνά ευρήματα από την περιοχή βεβαιώνουν ότι αυτό δεν ήταν ο κανόνας.

Και τα δύο αρχαιολογικά ευρήματα έχουν προκαλέσει μεγάλες συζητήσεις στους ακαδημαϊκούς κύκλο και προβλήθηκαν με τη συνηθισμένη υπερβολή από τα ΜΜΕ. Ο λόγος για το οστεοφυλάκιο του Ιακώβου και τα ευρήματα από τους τάφους του Talpiot και την πιθανή σύνδεσή τους με τον Ιησού και την οικογένειά του.

Διαλέξεις του Tobias Nicklas / Lectures of Tobias Nicklas

Στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος Erasmus o καθηγητής της Καινής Διαθήκης της Καθολικής Θεολογικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου του Regensburg κ. Tobias Nicklas θα δώσει στην Αίθουσα Οπτικοακουστικών Μέσων της Σχολής μας τις ακόλουθες δύο διαλέξεις:

"The Development of the Christian Bible" την Τετάρτη 25 Απριλίου από 13.30 έως 15.00.

"The Book of Revelation and Its Role in the New Testament Canon" την Πέμπτη 26 Απριλίου από 14.15 έως 15.45.

Και οι δύο διαλέξεις θα γίνουν στην αγγλική γλώσσα, ενώ παράλληλα θα υπάρξουν προφορικές περιλήψεις στα ελληνικά. Θα ακολουθήσουν ανοικτές συζητήσεις επί των εισηγήσεων.
