Ευρήματα από την καθημερινή ζωή των ανθρώπων της Πομπηίας / Findings of everyday life in Pompeii

Kεραμικά και γυάλινα σκεύη σε έναν από τους βοηθητικούς χώρους 

της οικίας του Lalarium στην Πομπηία (Φωτο: Reuters)

Οι πρόσφατες ανασκαφές στους χώρους της "Οικίας του Lalarium" (εξαιτίας του σχετικού χώρου αφιερωμένου στη λατρεία των lares της οικίας), έφεραν στο φως έναν σημαντικό αριθμό οικιακών σκευών και επίπλων. Τα νέα ευρήματα φωτίζουν πτυχές της καθημερινής ζωής των ανθρώπων της Πομπηίας και παρέχουν πληροφορίες για την οικονομική και κοινωνική τους θέση.

Οι ιερείς του Ισραήλ και η ύπαιθρος / Jewish priesthood and countryside

 Μπορεί να κυριαρχεί η αντίληψη ότι οι ιερείς των Ιουδαίων ήταν αφοσιωμένοι στα ιερατικά τους καθήκοντα και δεν είχαν καμιά σχέση με την αγροτική ζωή, αλλά οι ιστορικές και αρχαιολογικές μαρτυρίες έρχονται να βεβαιώσουν το αντίθετο. Ένα μεγάλο μέρος των ιερέων ζούσαν στην ύπαιθρο κι ασχολούνταν με αγροτικές εργασίες. Κατέβαιναν στην Ιερουσαλήμ να εκπληρώσουν τα ιερατικά τους καθήκοντα σε τακτά διαστήματα. Σύμφωνα με ανακοίνωση της Αρχαιολογικής Υπηρεσίας του Ισραήλ αρχαιολόγοι οι οποίοι εργάζονται στον αρχαίο δρόμο των προσκυνητών της πόλης του Δαβίδ στην Ιερουσαλήμ έφεραν στο φως αρκετά μέτρα και σταθμά. Μεταξύ αυτών κι ένα εργαλείο μέτρησης των υγρών, του 1ου αι. μ.Χ. που χρησιμοποιούνταν για τη δίκαιη μέτρηση του οίνου ή του λαδιού. Σύμφωνα με την εκτίμηση των αρχαιολόγων στην περιοχή όπου βρέθηκαν τα νέα ευρήματα πρέπει να τοποθετηθεί το γραφείο των αγορανόμων, αξιωματούχων που ήταν υπεύθυνοι για τη σωστή χρήση των μέτρων και των σταθμών και των νόμων σχετικά με τις αγοραπωλησίες.
