Kenneth E. Bailey (1930-2016)

Έφυγε από τη ζωή ο Kenneth E. Bailey, καθηγητής της ΚΔ και συγγραφέας πολλών βιβλίων για τον Ιησού και τα συνοπτικά ευαγγέλια. Δίδαξε για πολλά χρόνια στην Θεολογική Σχολή της Βηρυτού όπου ίδρυσε το Institute for Middle Eastern New Testament Studies, στο Ecumenical Institute for Theological Research της Ιερουσαλήμ, στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Princeton και στο Fuller Theological Seminary. Στις μελέτες του ασχολείται με το πολιτισμικό υπόβαθρο της ΚΔ αλλά και τις λογοτεχνικές μορφές στα κείμενά της. Μεταξύ των σημαντικών του μελετών ξεχωρίζουν οι εξής: Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes (Downer’s Grove: InterVarsity Press, 2008) και Poet and Peasant and Through Peasant Eyes (Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, l980). Από τα μικρότερα κείμενά του εκείνο που προσωπικά ξεχωρίζω είναι μία σχετικά άγνωστη μελέτη του για την μορφή της προφορικής παράδοσης για τον Ιησού στον αρχέγονο Χριστιανισμό: "Informal Controlled Oral Tradition and the Synoptic Gospels," AJT 5/1 (1991): 34-54. Πρόκειται για μια σημαντική μελέτη, η οποία αρκετά χρόνια μετά την κυκλοφορία της αξιοποιήθηκε από τον γνωστό καινοδιαθηκολόγο James Dunn σχετικά με τη σπουδαιότητα της προφορικότητας στη μελέτη του αρχέγονου Χριστιανισμού και των παραδόσεών του για τον Ιησού ("Altering the Default Setting: Re-envisaging

the Early Transmission of the Jesus Tradition," NTS 49 [2003]: 139-175). O Bailey, που έζησε πολλά χρόνια στη Μ. Ανατολή, μελέτησε προσεκτικά τους μηχανισμούς διάδοσης των προφορικών παραδόσεων και πρότεινε το μοντέλο της "ανεπίσημης ελεγχόμενης προφορικής παράδοσης" προκειμένου να εξηγήσει πώς διατηρήθηκε η παράδοση για τον Ιησού.

Ένα νέο περιοδικό για τον Ιστορικό Ιησού ανέβηκε πρόσφατα στον διαδίκτυο. Εκδίδεται από το ερευνητικό πρόγραμμα της Åbo Akademi Faculty of Arts, Psychology and Theology, στην Φινλανδία. Είναι δίγλωσσο (αγγλικά και φινλανδικά), κάτι που δίνει πρόσβαση σε ερευνητές από όλον τον κόσμο. Θα κυκλοφορεί 3 φορές τον χρόνο. Μέχρι τώρα έχει κυκλοφορήσει το πρώτο τεύχος για το έτος 2015:
