Αυτό το ερώτημα θέτει η Ισραηλινή αρχαιολόγος Dr. Rona Avissar Lewis στο βιβλίο της που κυκλοφόρησε στα εβραϊκά κι έχει ως θέμα τη ζωή των παιδιών στον αρχαίο Ισραήλ με βάση τα αρχαιολογικά ευρήματα. Η συγγραφέας εφαρμόζει τα εργαλεία της φεμινιστικής ερμηνευτικής ανάλυσης στα αρχαιολογικά ευρήματα κι η εικόνα που προκύπτει από αυτήν την ανάγνωση είναι πολύ διαφορετική από αυτήν που συνήθως έχουμε για το θέμα:
