Mitchell G. Reddish, "Hearing the Apocalypse in Pergamum," 3-12

This essay explores the question, "How might the Apocalypse of John have been received and understood by John's audiences in the first century?" The article examines three aspects of the book-its setting (with special focus on Pergamum), its author (who was a Christian prophet in western Asia Minor), and the mode of reception of the work (an oral performance in the context of worship where it was recited/performed, possibly by another prophet). Through oral performance, the presenter made Jesus present among the audience, creating a setting in which the message of the Apocalypse could not be easily ignored.

Κυκλοφόρησε από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Mohr Siebeck η μελέτη της Laurie Brink με θέμα τους στρατιώτες και τον τρόπο που παρουσιάζονται στο διπλό έργο του Λουκά. 

Η εικόνα των στρατιωτών στο έργο του Λουκά στηρίζεται, σύμφωνα με τη συγγραφέα, σε πολλά στερεότυπα της εποχής του για το ρωμαϊκό στρατό. Ενώ, ωστόσο, λαμβάνει υπόψη την αντιπάθεια που τρέφουν οι αναγνώστες του για το ρωμαϊκό στρατό, την αποδομεί μέσα στο έργο του παρουσιάζοντας σταδιακά τον Ρωμαίο στρατιώτη ως καλό μαθητή.

Ο ενδιαφερόμενος ερευνητής μπορεί να αναζητήσει και να διαβάσει τα βιβλία online. Ένα πολύ χρήσιμο εργαλείο ιδιαίτερα σε καιρούς που στην πατρίδα μας η πρόσβαση στα επιστημονικά βιβλία και περιοδικά έχει γίνει πάρα πολύ δύσκολη.

Την ερχόμενη Τετάρτη, 14 Μαΐου ώς την Παρασκευή, 16 Μαΐου, θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο πλαίσιο της διετούς μεταδιδακτορικής έρευνας του μεταδιδάκτορα του Τμήματός μας Dr Alexis Torrance «Μια κριτική αξιολόγηση των Πατερικών προτύπων για τις σύγχρονες θεολογίες του Προσώπου», η οποία χρηματοδοτείται από τη ΓΓΕΤ, διεθνές Συνέδριο με τίτλο : «UNDERSTANDING PERSONS - Ancient, Medieval, and Modern Perspectives From the Christian East». 

 To Συνέδριο συνδιοργανώνεται με το Δίκτυο ΚΕΕΠ και θα συμμετάσχουν σ᾽ αυτό ειδικοί επιστήμονες από όλο τον κόσμο. Φιλοδοξία μας είναι να λειτουργήσει ως ένα workshop γι᾽ αυτό το τόσο σημαντικό και επίκαιρο και στην εποχή μας θεολογικό ζήτημα. Γι᾽ αυτό και στις συνεδρίες της Πέμπτης και της Παρασκευής, που θα πραγματοποιηθούν στο αμφιθέατρο της ΔΙΑΚΟΝΙΑΣ στην Πυλαία, θα υπάρχει μεταφραστικό σύστημα για την κατανόηση των ξενόγλωσσων εισηγήσεων και τη συμμετοχή των συνέδρων στις συζητήσεις που θα επακολουθήσουν. 

Επισημαίνεται ότι η εναρκτήρια διάλεξη θα πραγματοποιηθεί από τον μητροπολίτη και ομότιμο καθηγητή του Πανεπιστημίου της Οξφόρδης Κάλλιστο Ware, έναν από τους σημαντικότερους ορθόδοξους θεολόγους της εποχής μας, στην αίθουσα συνεδριάσεων της Σχολής μας την Τετάρτη 14 Μαΐου.

Απεβίωσε χτες ο ομότιμος καθηγητής της Καινής Διαθήκης στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Nottingham Maurice Casey. O Casey τόνισε στο έργο του το αραμαϊκό υπόβαθρο των ευαγγελίων και κυρίως της Q κι υπήρξε ένας από τους σθεναρούς υποστηρικτές της κλασικής ιστορικοκριτικής μεθόδου και της αναζήτησης του ιστορικού Ιησού.

Κυκλοφόρησε από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Mohr Siebeck ένας ενδιαφέρων τόμος με θέμα την πρόσληψη της μετάφρασης των Ο΄ από την ιουδαϊκή-ελληνιστική και χριστιανική γραμματεία. Οι μελέτες που περιλαμβάνονται σε αυτόν παρουσιάστηκαν σε ένα workshop της ομάδας του πανεπιστημίου του Στρασβούργου που ανέλαβε την έκδοση ενός ιστορικού και θεολογικού της μετάφρασης των Ο΄ και το οποίο έλαβε χώρα το 2011.

Στις 27 και 28 Μαρτίου 2014 έλαβε χώρα το διεθνές επιστημονικό συνέδριο «ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΟΣ ΠΑΥΛΟΣ ΚΑΙ ΑΓΙΟΣ ΓΡΗΓΟΡΙΟΣ ΠΑΛΑΜΑΣ: ΑΠΟ ΤΗΝ ΟΙΚΟΥΜΕΝΙΚΗ ΣΤΗΝ ΗΣΥΧΑΣΤΙΚΗ ΘΕΟΛΟΓΙΑ», το οποίο διοργάνωσαν τα δύο ερευνητικά Κέντρα του Τμήματος, το Κέντρο Αγίου Δημητρίου και Αγίου Γρηγορίου Παλαμά και το Κέντρο Αποστόλου Παύλου, σε συνεργασία με το Δίκτυο Κειμενικής και Ερμηνευτικής Εκκλησιαστικής Παράδοσης του Τμήματος.
