Ένα νέο βιβλίο για την ταυτότητα των αρχαίων χριστιανικών ομάδων

Ο Phil Harland μας πληροφορεί ότι προσεχώς θα κυκλοφορήσει το νέο του βιβλίο από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Continuum / T & T Clark με τον τίτλο Dynamics of Identity and Early Christianity: Associations and Cultural Minorities in the Roman Empire.

Tο θέμα της ταυτότητας είναι ένα ιδιαίτερα ενδιαφέρον και επίκαιρο θέμα.Ιδιαίτερα η εφαρμογή των πορισμάτων της κοινωνιολογίας και πολιτισμικής ανθρωπολογίας και κυρίως μοντέλων όπως αυτών που συνδέονται με τη θεωρία της ταυτότητας και κυρίως των μειονοτήτων ή του στερεότυπου ανοίγουν νέες προοπτικές κατανόησης των αρχαίων χριστιανικών ομάδων. Ο ίδιος ο Harland περιγράφει ως εξής το περιεχόμενο του βιβλίου του:

Issues of acculturation among immigrant groups and minorities (Christians are included here) are central to the overall argument of the book. I draw heavily on anthropological, sociological and social psychological theories of identity formation and negotiation in order to analyze internal self-definitions and external categorizations (negative stereotypes) of various associations. Among the points I make is that early Christian groups could be viewed both as a typical association and as a dangerous anti-association depending on the moment of perception and the perceivers involved. As usual, I rely heavily on epigraphical evidence (inscriptions) to provide a new angle on groups of Judeans and Jesus-followers.
