Ο ναός του Διός Κασίου στο αρχαίο Πηλούσιον / The temple of Zeus Kasios at Pelusium

Σύμφωνα με δημοσίευμα της ιστοσελίδα HeritageDaily η αρχαιολογική αποστολή που εργάζεται στις ανασκαφές στο αρχαίο Πηλούσιον (Tell el-Farma) έφερε στα φως τα ερείπια του ναού του Διός Κασίου. Η ύπαρξη της λατρείας ήταν ήδη γνωστή από τις αρχές του 20ου αι., όταν ο αρχαιολόγος Jean Clédat εντόπισε επιγραφές που έκαναν λόγο για τη λατρεία του Διός Κασίου στο Πηλούσιον. Το επίθετο "Κάσιος" προέρχεται από το ομώνυμο όρος στη Συρία, τόπο λατρείας της θεότητας. Το ιερό εντοπίστηκε στην περιοχή μεταξύ του φρουρίου του Πηλουσίου και ενός μνημειακού χριστιανικού ναού. Σύμφωνα με επιγραφές ο ναός ανακαινίσθηκε από τον Τίτο Φλάβιο Τιτάνα με εντολή του Αδριανού κατά το 2ο αι. Υλικό από τον αρχαίο ναό χρησιμοποιήθηκε αργότερα στα βυζαντινά κτίρια και στον κοντινό μνημειακό χριστιανικό ναό.
