Η αρχαία Βηθσαϊδά / Ancient Bethsaida

H περιοχή όπου εντοπίζεται η αρχαία πόλη Βηθσαϊδά-Ιουλιάς
Στον χάρτη σημειώνονται οι δυο τοποθεσίες, e-Tell και el Araj,
που συνδέονται από τους αρχαιολόγους με την πόλη

Στην ιστοσελίδα The Bible and Interpretation δημοσιεύεται το σύντομο άρθρο του  Rami Arav (Παν/μιο Nebraska) σχετικά με τα μέχρι σήμερα αρχαιολογικά ευρήματα σε δύο τοποθεσίες (e-Tell και El Araj), τα οποία ταυτίστηκαν από δύο διαφορετικές αρχαιολογικές ομάδες με την αρχαία πόλη της Βηθσαϊδά. Ο Arav, ο οποίος εργάστηκε στην ανασκαφή της e-Tell υποστηρίζει ότι αυτή μάλλον πιθανότερη τοποθεσία της αρχαίας πόλης είναι η e-Tell, ενώ ασκώντας κριτική στα πρόσφατα δημοσιεύματα της αρχαιολογικής ομάδας του Kinneret College, η οποία εργάστηκε στο el Araj, υποστηρίζει ότι μάλλον έφεραν στο φως ένα στρατόπεδο μισθοφόρων του Αγρίππα Β΄. Ο Arav παρέχει επίσης έναν χρήσιμο πίνακα, όπου συγκρίνονται τα ευρήματα από τις δύο τοποθεσίες με τις όποιες ιστορικές πληροφορίες έχουμε για την Βηθσαϊδά από τις αρχαίες πηγές:

Από ανάρτηση του καθηγητή Mario Pesce πληροφορήθηκα το θάνατο του γνωστού καθηγητή της Καινής Διαθήκης στο Πανεπιστήμιο Creighton (Omaha), Bruce Malina. Ο Malina υπήρξε ένας πρωτοπόρος ερευνητής που εισήγαγε μοντέλα της πολιτισμικής ανθρωπολογίας και της κοινωνιολογίας στη μελέτη του κόσμου των ευαγγελίων και του Παύλου. Από τα ιδρυτικά στελέχη του γνωστού Context Group με μία σειρά από πρωτοποριακές μελέτες όπως, για παράδειγμα, η σειρά των υπομνημάτων στα βιβλία της ΚΔ υπό το πρίσμα της κοινωνικής κριτικής προσέγγισης, The Social Gospel of Jesus: The Kingdom of God in Mediterranean Perspective (2000), The New Testament World: Insights from Cultural Anthropology (1981), The Social World of Jesus and the Gospels (1996).

Mολονότι οι θέσεις του δέχτηκαν συχνά κριτική, κυρίως εξαιτίας της εφαρμογής κοινωνιολογικών μοντέλων και δεδομένων από διαφορετικές πολιτισμικές συνάφειες σε εκείνες του κόσμου της ΚΔ, δεν υπάρχει αμφιβολία ότι η συνεισφορά του στη μελέτη της εποχής της ΚΔ είναι ουσιαστική. Ο Malina υπογράμμισε την ιδιαιτερότητα του κόσμου της Μεσογείου κατά τον 1ο αι. μ.Χ. καθώς και το γεγονός ότι αυτός προϋποθέτει ένα σύστημα αξιών, κοσμοθεωρία κι ανθρωπολογία πολύ διαφορετική από τη σημερινή του δυτικού κόσμου. Εκκινώντας από αυτήν την βασική θέση ο Malina προσπάθησε μέσα από το έργο του να αναδείξει ακριβώς αυτόν τον ιδιαίτερο κόσμο παρέχοντας στη βιβλική επιστήμη σημαντικά εργαλεία μελέτης του κόσμου της Καινής Διαθήκης. Ας αναπαύεται εν ειρήνη!
