Μία ακόμη απώλεια μέσα στον Οκτώβρη καθιστά την οικογένεια των καινοδιαθηκολόγων φτωχότερη. Έφυγε από τη ζωή σε ηλικία 88 ετών ο γνωστός καινοδιαθηκολόγος Gordon Fee. Σπούδασε στα Πανεπιστήμια Sheattle Pacific και Southern California. Δίδαξε σε διάφορα πανεπιστήμια και κολλέγια και στα τελευταία χρόνια της ζωής του στο Regent College από το οποίο συνταξιοδοτήθηκε το 2002. Στο έργο του ασχολήθηκε με την ιστορία του κειμένου της Καινής Διαθήκης και την πνευματολογία των καινοδιαθηκικών κειμένων. Διετέλεσε εκδότης της σειράς New International Commentary on the New Testament και μέλος της επιτροπής για τη μετάφραση New International Version (NIV) και την αναθεώρησή της Today's New International Version (TNIV). Από το πλούσιο συγγραφικό του έργο ξεχωρίζω εδώ κάποιες σημαντικές μελέτες του: τα δύο υπομνήματά του στην Α΄ Κορινθίους και Φιλιππησίους στη σειρά NTCNT, τη μελέτη του Gospel and Spirit: issues in New Testament hermeneutics (1991) και God's Empowering Presence: The Holy Spirit in the Letters of Paul (1994).

John P. Meier (8.8.1942-18.10.2022)

 Έφυγε από τη ζωή ο John P. Meier, ομότιμος καθηγητής της Καινής Διαθήκης του Πανεπιστημίου Notre-Dame, Indiana (ΗΠΑ). Εκτός από το ερευνητικό του έργο ο εκλιπών υπήρξε ιερέας της Καθολικής Εκκλησίας και πρελάτος επί τιμή. Μέχρι το τέλος της ζωής του εργάστηκε με αφοσίωση και πάθος για την καινοδιαθηκική έρευνα κι άφησε πίσω ένα σημαντικό συγγραφικό έργο. Είναι ιδιαίτερα γνωστός για το πολύτομο έργο του A Marginal Jew: Rethinking the Historical Jesus (πριν το θάνατό του ετοίμαζε τον 6ο τόμο), στο οποίο με τη βοήθεια της ιστορικοκριτικής μεθόδου ανέλυε τις αρχαίες πηγές (κανονικά και μη κανονικά κείμενα) κι αναζητούσε τα στοιχεία που βοηθούν να ανακατασκευαστεί το ιστορικό πρόσωπο του Ιησού.
