Το Μιθραίο στην Όστια / The Ostia Mithraeum

Το "Μιθραίο με τα πολύχρωμα μάρμαρα" στην Όστια.

Το 2014 οι αρχαιολόγοι έφεραν στο φως ένα κτίριο που συνδέεται με τη λατρεία του Μίθρα στην αρχαία Όστια. Το σημαντικότερο δωμάτιο αυτό του κτιρίου, το spaelum, είναι στρωμένο με πολύχρωμο μαρμάρινο δάπεδο και σε αυτό βρέθηκαν ένας πάγκος, ένα πηγάδι, κι ένα παρτέρι για κάποιο ιερό φυτό. Το πολύχρωμο δάπεδό του έδωσε και το όνομα στο κτίριο, το οποίο συχνά αναφέρεται ως το "Μιθραίο με τα πολύχρωμα μάρμαρα" Διαφέρει κατά πολύ στον τύπο και στο μέγεθος από τα άλλα Μιθραία που βρέθηκαν στην Όστια. Οι αρχαιολόγοι εκτιμούν ότι το κτίριο χρονολογείται στον 4ο αι. μ.Χ.
