Με αφορμή το βιβλίο της Inhabiting the Promised Land: Exploring the Complex Relationship between Archaeology and Ancient Israel as Depicted in the Bible (Oxbow Books, 2019), η αρχαιολόγος Margreet Steiner διατυπώνει κάποιες σκέψεις σχετικά με τη σχέση αρχαιολογίας και Βίβλου και θέτει το σοβαρό μεθοδολογικό ερώτημα κατά πόσο οι αρχαιολογικές ανακαλύψεις θα πρέπει να διαβάζονται με τέτοιον τρόπο ώστε να κατανοούνται ως αποδείξεις της βιβλικής ιστορίας:
