Ad Fontes, Ad Futura: Erasmus’ Bible and the Impact of Scripture

In celebration of upcoming 500th anniversary of Erasmus’ Greek text and the Reformation, the Department of Theologyat HBU, in conjunction with the Dunham Bible Museum, is pleased to host the conference Ad Fontes, Ad Futura: Erasmus’ Bible and the Impact of Scripture. The conference will consider the textual and historical issues surrounding the development of the Bible, the Bible’s impact on human society across the centuries, and the future of Biblical translation and interpretation in the future. Our keynote speakers include Craig Evans (Houston Baptist University), Timothy George (Beeson Divinity School, Samford University), Herman Selderhuis (Theological University Apeldoorn) and Daniel Wallace (Dallas Theological Seminary). The plenary talks are free and open to the public.

We also invite proposals for short papers from scholars and graduate students from a wide array of disciplines and topics, including:

The historical context, and textual tradition, of the Biblical canon;

The history of the Greek text of the Bible;

The social and/or cultural impact of the Bible in any historical period or location;

The Bible and the history of the book;

Modern Bible translations and translation practice;

Textual and cultural issues concerning the Bible in the Digital Age.

Anyone who is interested should submit a 300 word abstract on any relevant topic. Papers should be 20 minutes long, and decisions will be announced before January 8, 2016. Send proposals to Jason Maston at jmaston@hbu.edu.

ΑΡΤΟΣ ΖΩΗΣ: Γλωσσικά μαθήματα 2015-2016

Εδώ και τέσσερα χρόνια ο Άρτος Ζωής προσφέρει δωρεάν συστηματική διδασκαλία της βιβλικής εβραϊκής και γλωσσών της χριστιανικής Μέσης Ανατολής. Το ίδρυμά μας είναι το μοναδικό στην Ελλάδα όπου διδάσκονται γλώσσες της χριστιανικής Ανατολής σε τόσο υψηλό επίπεδο. Κατά το
ακαδημαϊκό έτος 2015-2016 θα παραδίδονται μαθήματα βιβλικής εβραϊκής, συριακής και κλασικής αρμενικής γλώσσας, σε διάφορα επίπεδα. Δείτε το αναλυτικό πρόγραμμα και τις προϋποθέσεις συμμετοχής καθώς και τη σχετική αίτηση για τα τμήματα αρχαρίων, και επικοινωνήστε μαζί μας για
οποιαδήποτε επιπλέον πληροφορία.
Σημείωση: Για το τρέχον ακαδημαϊκό έτος θα χρειαστεί να ζητήσουμε τη στήριξή σας για την κάλυψη μέρους των λειτουργικών εξόδων που αφορούν τα μαθήματα. Η συμβολή σας θα είναι η ελάχιστη δυνατή και, σε κάθε περίπτωση, δεν θα υπερβαίνει το ποσό των 10 ευρώ μηνιαίως.

ΕΒΡΑΪΚΑ Ι / ΣΥΡΙΑΚΑ Ι / ΑΡΜΕΝΙΚΑ Ι (4 ώρες την εβδομάδα): Δεν προϋποτίθεται γνώση της γλώσσας. Λόγω του περιορισμένου όμως αριθμού των θέσεων, οι ενδιαφερόμενοι για τα παραπάνω τμήματα (αρχαρίων) παρακαλούνται να συμπληρώσουν και να αποστείλουν ηλεκτρονικά τη συνημμένη αίτηση στη διεύθυνση artos@otenet.gr έως την Τετάρτη 30 Σεπτεμβρίου το αργότερο.

ΕΒΡΑΪΚΑ ΙΙ (2 ώρες την εβδομάδα): Απευθύνεται κυρίως σε όσους έχουν ήδη παρακολουθήσει τον πρώτο ετήσιο κύκλο μαθημάτων της βιβλικής εβραϊκής.

ΣΥΡΙΑΚΑ ΙΙ (2 ώρες την εβδομάδα): Απευθύνεται σε όσους παρακολούθησαν το πρόσφατο υπερεντατικό θερινό τμήμα της συριακής γλώσσας (Ιούλιος 2015).

ΣΥΡΙΑΚΑ ΙΙΙ (2 ώρες την εβδομάδα): Απευθύνεται κυρίως σε όσους έχουν ήδη παρακολουθήσει τον πρώτο ετήσιο κύκλο μαθημάτων της συριακής γλώσσας.

Ένα νέο βιβλίο για τους Ιουδαϊσμούς της Αρχαιότητας / A new book on the Judaisms of antiquity

Από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Brepols κυκλοφόρησε ένας νέος συλλογικός τόμος με θέμα τις διαφορετικές μορφές του Ιουδαϊσμού κατά την αρχαιότητα. Οι εισηγήσεις του τόμου εξετάζουν τη θεωρία της τριμερούς διάκρισης του Ιουδαϊσμού των τριών πρώτων μεταχριστιανικών αιώνων: τον Ιουδαϊσμό της συναγωγής, ο οποίος μετά την καταστροφή του 70 διατηρεί την συναγωγή ως το μοναδικό τόπο λατρείας, έναν Ιουδαϊσμό που μετατρέπεται σε χριστιανικό κίνημα (όπου Ιουδαίοι κι εθνικοί, ως σεβόμενοι, συναντώνται) και τον ραββινικό Ιουδαϊσμό, όπου οι μαθητές συγκεντρώνονται γύρω από τον σοφό δάσκαλο. Ο πρώτος παραμένει το κυρίαρχο κίνημα, ενώ οι δύο άλλοι είναι πολύ μικρότεροι σε επιρροή:
