Η ταύτισή του με τον διάβολο είναι μεταγενέστερη και για αυτό έχουν διατυπωθεί διάφορες θεωρίες, τις οποίες παρουσιάζει κριτικά ο συγγραφέας και στο τέλος προτείνει τη δική του εκδοχή:

Συνέδριο για τον Κανόνα και την αυθεντία του / Conference on the Canon and its authority

Η σημασία του κανόνα και ο ρόλος της αυθεντίας ο οποίος προσδίδεται στα βιβλία που περιέχονται σε αυτόν αποτελεί το θέμα του διεθνούς συνεδρίου που θα λάβει χώρα στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Εδιμβούργου στις 6 Μαΐου 2015. Οι εισηγητές θα προσεγγίσουν θέματα όπως ποιες είναι οι συνέπειες της κανονικοποίησης συγκεκριμένων βιβλίων για την πίστη και την ηθική των ομάδων που αποδέχονται τον κανόνα ή κατά πόσο και με ποιο τρόπο η αποδοχή της αγιότητας αυτών των βιβλίων υπαγορεύει την χρήση και την παράχρησή τους.

Ειδική μνεία γίνεται στην παράσταση της Κιβωτού του Νώε (φωτο) σε νομίσματα της Απάμειας κατά τον 2ο/3ο αι. μ.Χ., όταν Ιουδαίοι κατέλαβαν αξιώματα στην τοπική αυτοδιοίκηση. Η παράσταση της Κιβωτού ως ενός κιβωτίου συμφωνεί με την ελληνική απόδοση στη μετάφραση των Ο΄ της λέξης tebah, την οποία χρησιμοποιούσε το εβραϊκό για να περιγράψει το σκάφος του Νώε και της οικογένειάς του:
