Μολονότι στην Ελλάδα έχουμε συνηθίσει στη λογική ακαδημαϊκών και επιστημονικών περιοδικών, τα οποία φιλοξενούν κατά κύριο λόγο (για να μην πω αποκλειστικά) μελέτες διδακτόρων και ακαδημαϊκών δασκάλων, στο εξωτερικό τα πράγματα είναι διαφορετικά. Έτσι στο Bigham Young University εκδίδεται ηλεκτρονικά το φοιτητικό περιοδικό Studia Antiqua. A Student Journal for the Study of the Ancient World. Στο τρέχον τεύχος του περιοδικού μάλιστα δημοσιεύονται τρία άρθρα με βιβλικό ενδιαφέρον και εξαιρετική ποιότητα. Θα πρέπει κάποτε να σκεφτούμε τέτοιους τρόπους ακαδημαϊκής έκφρασης για τους φοιτητές μας (για να μην αναφέρω εδώ την εκπαιδευτική χρησιμότητα ενός τέτοιου περιοδικού) και να ξεφύγουμε από τις λογικές ενός ακαδημαϊκού λόγου και διαλόγου που περιορίζεται μόνο στο επίπεδο των πανεπιστημιακών δασκάλων ή έστω και στον ευρύτερο κύκλο μόνο των διδακτόρων.

Ένα νέο βιβλίο για την προς Φιλιππησίους / A new book on Philippians

Κυκλοφόρησε από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Mohr Siebeck η μονογραφία του Bradley Arnold σχετικά με την αθλητική γλώσσα και τις αθλητικές παραστάσεις της προς Φιλιππησίους επιστολής καθώς και την σχέση της επιστολής με κείμενα ηθικών φιλοσόφων της αρχαιότητας. Ο συγγραφέας διαπιστώνει συγγένεια της δομής της επιστολής με τα κείμενα των τελευταίων. Μέσα σε αυτήν τη συνάφεια αξιοποιεί την αθλητική γλώσσα της εποχής του για να αναδείξει τον σκοπό της χριστιανικής ζωής. Αυτός συνοψίζεται στο 3, 13-14: για τον Παύλο ο σκοπός (τέλος) της ζωής του Χριστιανού είναι ο ίδιος ο Ιησούς Χριστός.
