Στο ιστολόγιο ANE Today o Philip Boyes εξηγεί πώς η γραφή είναι μία σύνθετη κοινωνική διεργασία η οποία για να κατανοηθεί πρέπει να ληφθούν υπόψη διάφοροι πολιτισμικοί και κοινωνικοί παράγοντες, αλλά και τα υλικά που χρησιμοποιούνται στη διαδικασία γραφής καθώς κι οι άνθρωποι που εμπλέκονται σε αυτήν.
