 Σύμφωνα με δημοσιεύματα των τελευταίων ημερών ο Πολωνός καθηγητής Αρχαιολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου της Βαρσοβίας, Marek T. Olszewski, πρότεινε μία ενδιαφέρουσα ερμηνεία του εικονογραφικού προγράμματος των ψηφιδωτών που βρέθηκαν στο σπίτι του Αιώνος στην αρχαία Πάφο (Κύπρος). Η πρότασή του φαίνεται μάλιστα να κερδίζει έδαφος μεταξύ των ειδικών. Σύμφωνα με τον Olszewski, το ψηφιδωτό, που χρονολογείται στο 318 μ.Χ., εποχή κατά την οποία η ρωμαϊκή αυτοκρατορία και διοίκηση εκχριστιανίζεται, πρέπει να ερμηνευτεί αλληγορικά κι είναι μία αντιχριστιανική πολεμική του ειδωλολάτρη ιδιοκτήτη της οικίας.  Σύμφωνα με δημοσίευμα της ιστοσελίδας Archaeology News Network η σωστική ανασκαφή λίγο έξω από τη Ρώμη (μεταξύ Via Ostiense και Via di Malafed) έφερε στο φως μία μεγάλων διαστάσεων δεξαμενή νερού, η οποία χρονολογείται στον 4ο αι. π.Χ. καθώς και μία σειρά κτισμάτων που καλύπτουν ένα ευρύ χρονικό φάσμα από τον 4ο αι. π.Χ έως και τον 3ο αι. μ.Χ. που πιστοποιούν τη συνεχή χρήση του τόπου. Σύμφωνα με τις εκτιμήσεις των ειδικών η δεξαμενή πρέπει να ήταν μέρος συστήματος ύδρευσης, αν και η χρήση της παραμένει ακόμη ένα ανοικτό ερώτημα:

Η Gunderson συνδυάζει αρχαίες και σύγχρονες θεωρίες για το συναίσθημα για να καταδείξει πώς η δήλωση των συναισθημάτων του Παύλου και μάλιστα της λύπης του στη 2 Κορινθίους συνδέονται άμεσα με την αυθεντία του Παύλου αλλά και τη δημιουργία δεσμών με τους χριστιανούς της Κορίνθου:
