Ένα πολυτελές κτίριο του 1ου αι. μ.Χ. στην Ιερουσαλήμ / A rich 1st-century building in Jerusalem

 Σύμφωνα με δημοσίευμα της The Jerusalem Post θα είναι σύντομα επισκέψιμη για το κοινό ένα δημόσιο κτίριο του 1ου αι. μ.Χ. (20-30 μ.Χ.) το οποίο βρέθηκε έξω από τα δυτικά τείχη του Ναού στην Ιερουσαλήμ. Απαρτίζεται από δύο χώρους διακοσμημένους με κορινθιακά κιονόκρανα επιπλωμένους με ξύλινα ανάκλιντρα όπου οι φιλοξενούμενοι μπορούσαν να ξεκουραστούν και να δειπνήσουν. Οι δύο αυτοί χώροι επικοινωνούσαν με έναν τρίτο όπου υπήρχε πηγή με τρεχούμενο νερό. Σύμφωνα με την εκτίμηση των αρχαιολόγων το κτίριο προοριζόταν για τη φιλοξενία επιφανών επισκεπτών της πόλης. Αργότερα το ένα από τα δύο δωμάτια μετατράπηκε σε mikveh. Tα νομίσματα που βρέθηκαν στο δάπεδο των δωματίων χρονολογούνται μέχρι και το 55 μ.Χ., κάτι που βεβαιώνει ότι το κτίριο ήταν σε χρήση μέχρι και λίγα χρόνια πριν την καταστροφή του 70 μ.Χ.

Περιηγηθείτε στην πολύ κατατοπιστική σελίδα του Google Arts&Culture η οποία παρουσιάζει και σχολιάζει την εικονογράφηση και τις τεχνικές μουμιοποίησης  στη ρωμαϊκή Αίγυπτο. Ως παράδειγμα χρησιμοποιείται η μούμια του Ηρακλείδη, ενός νέου ανώτερου κοινωνικού στρώματος της Αιγύπτου, ο οποίος έζησε και πέθανε μεταξύ του 120 και του 140 μ.Χ.

 Τα χειρόγραφα του Κουμράν (περίπου 900) είναι αναμφισβήτητα μία από τις σημαντικότερες
αρχαιολογικές ανακαλύψεις του 20ου αι. Μεταξύ τους ο λεγόμενος "Χάλκινος Κύλινδρος", ένα κείμενο γραμμένο σε φύλλα ορείχαλκου, που βρέθηκε το 1952 στο Σπήλαιο 3 του Κουμράν, εξακολουθεί να προκαλεί το ενδιαφέρον των ερευνητών. Περιέχει έναν κατάλογο με πληροφορίες για τοποθεσίες όπου είναι κρυμμένοι διάφοροι θησαυροί. Το μεγάλο ερώτημα που απασχολεί τους ερευνητές είναι κατά πόσο πρόκειται για πραγματικούς ή για φανταστικούς θησαυρούς.
