H πρώτη αναπαράσταση του τάφου της Αμφίπολης / The first reconstruction of the new Amphipolis tomb

Δόθηκε στη δημοσιότητα από το ΥΠΠΟΑ η πρώτη αξονομετρική σχεδιαστική αναπαράσταση του ταφικού μνημείου, από τον αρχιτέκτονα του ΥΠΠΟΑ, Μ. Λεφαντζή, με τους δύο διαφραγματικούς τοίχους επί των οποίων φέρονται, στον μεν πρώτο οι Σφίγγες, στον δε δεύτερο οι Καρυάτιδες.

Ας σημειωθεί επίσης ότι πριν λίγο δημοσιεύματα έκαναν λόγο για την εύρεση επιχρωματισμένου επιστυλίου στο χώρο πίσω από τις Καρυάτιδες.

Σε προηγούμενη ανάρτηση είχαμε μιλήσει για τα φοιτητικά περιοδικά και τις δυνατότητες που αυτά δίνουν σε νέους επιστήμονες να ασχοληθούν σοβαρά με τη συγγραφή ακαδημαϊκών άρθρων και μελετών και να εκπαιδευτούν μέσα από αυτήν τη σημαντική άσκηση. Σήμερα παρουσιάζουμε ακόμη ένα τέτοιο περιοδικό. Πρόκειται για το περιοδικό Hirundo, the McGill Journal of Classical Studies, το οποίο εκδίδεται από τους προπτυχιακούς φοιτητές της Classics Students Association of McGill. Το περιοδικό φιλοξενεί μελέτες φοιτητών και αποφοίτων με θέματα σχετικά με την ιστορία, την τέχνη και τη γραμματεία των λαών της αρχαίας Μεσογείου, Εγγύς Ανατολής και Ευρώπης.

To φρούριο της Απολλωνίας στο Ισραήλ / The fortress of Apollonia in Israel

H ηλεκτρονική έκδοση των The Times of Israel δημοσιεύει ένα ενδιαφέρον άρθρο για το αρχαίο φρούριο της Απολλωνίας και την μετατροπή του σε εθνικό πάρκο. 

Οι απαρχές της πόλης ανάγονται στους Φοίνικες και το αρχικό όνομα της πόλης ήταν Απολλωνία. Στα ελληνιστικά χρόνια μετονομάστηκε σε Απολλωνία, ενώ στην εποχή των Ρωμαίων η πόλη γνώρισε ανάπτυξη μέχρι και τη βυζαντινή εποχή. Κατά τον 6ο αι. πήρε το όνομα Σώζουσα και έγινε η επισκοπική έδρα της Palaestina prima. Στα 640 μ.Χ. την κατέλαβαν οι Άραβες και την οχύρωσαν. Έπεσε στα χέρια των Σταυροφόρων στα 1101 και καταστράφηκε τελικά στα 1265. Σήμερα είναι ένα από τα εθνικά πάρκα του Ισραήλ.

Description

This work is the first comprehensive description of Sumerian constructions involving a copula. Using around 400 fully glossed examples, it gives a thorough analysis of all uses of the copula, which is one of the least understood and most frequently misinterpreted and consequently mistranslated morphemes in Sumerian.

It starts with a concise introduction into the grammatical structure of Sumerian, followed by a study that is accessible to both linguists and sumerologists, as it applies the terminology of modern descriptive linguistics. It provides the oldest known and documented example of the path of grammaticalization that leads from a copula to a focus marker. It gives the description of Sumerian copular paratactic relative clauses, which make use of an otherwise only scarcely attested relativization strategy. At the end of the book, the reader will have a clear picture about the morphological and syntactic devices used to mark identificational, polarity and sentence focus in Sumerian, one of the oldest documented languages in the world.
