Ένας χάρτης της Μαύρης Θάλασσας / A map of the Black Sea

Η Sarah Bond δημοσιεύει στο ιστολόγιό της μία πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα παρουσίαση του χάρτη της Μαύρης Θάλασσας που βρέθηκε στην Dura Europos. Πρόκειται για ένα κάλυμμα ασπίδας από δέρμα ζώου διακοσμημένο με έναν αρχαίο χάρτη. Επάνω σε αυτόν σημειώνονται σταθμοί επιβίβασης με τα ελληνικά τους ονόματα ενώ οι αποστάσεις δίνονται σε ρωμαϊκά μίλια. Ο προσανατολισμός του χάρτη είναι δυτικός - νοτιοδυτικός. Πρόκειται για ένα ακόμη δείγμα του μεγάλου ενδιαφέροντος κατά τον 3ο-4ο αι. για τη γεωγραφία.

Δύο ενδιαφέρουσες αναρτήσεις αυτήν την εβδομάδα που σχετίζονται με την εμφάνιση και την ταυτότητα του Ιησού στην τέχνη.

Η πρώτη είναι η ανακοίνωση για το βιβλίο της Joan E. Taylor για την απεικόνιση του Ιησού στην τέχνη. Το βιβλίο της θα κυκλοφορήσει τον Φεβρουάριο 2018, ο εκδοτικός όμως οίκος Bloomsbury δίνει την δυνατότητα προ-παραγγελίας του:
