Νέο κοπτικό απόκρυφο / A new coptic apokryphon

Στο ιστολόγιο Apocryphicity διαβάζουμε την είδηση της έκδοσης ενός κοπτικού αποσπάσματος απόκρυφου, το οποίο προέρχεται από κώδικα που βρέθηκε στο Λευκό Μοναστήρι. Σύμφωνα με τον εκδότη του, Suciu Thomassen, το κείμενο διατηρεί αναφορές στις χριστολογικές έριδες του 5ου αι. και γι' αυτό θα πρέπει να μην θεωρηθεί ως ιδιαίτερα αρχαίο.

Από το ιστολόγιο Evangelical Textual Criticism μας έρχεται η είδηση ότι ο Wieland Wilker ανάρτησε στην ιστοσελίδα του τη μεταγραφή και φωτογραφίες ενός νέου λεξιοναρίου, από τη Βρέμη (Codex Bremensis Manuscripta c. 11)το οποίο χρονολογείται στον 8ο αι. Ζωδιακά σύμβολα στις συναγωγές / Zodiac symbols in synagogues

H παρουσία ζωδιακών συμβόλων σε συναγωγές της Παλαιστίνης της Βυζαντινής περιόδου αποτελεί ένα από τα ζητήματα που απασχολούν ακόμη και σήμερα την έρευνα. Ο Walter Zenger σε ένα σύντομο άρθρο στην ηλεκτρονική σελίδα του Biblical Archaeologist Review παρουσιάζει τα ευρήματα από διάφορες συναγωγές και αποδίδει την παρουσία τέτοιων συμβόλων στην ύπαρξη μίας ιδιαίτερης μυστικής παράδοσης μέσα στους κόλπους του Ιουδαϊσμού της Βυζαντινής περιόδου. Σημειώνει χαρακτηριστικά:

That fact tells us what we already knew: that these zodiacs were certainly not just decorations or pretty pictures. Nor were they attempts at astrology (predicting the future) or astronomy. The Ark, candelabrum, shofar, etc. were put in synagogues (and on tombstones, lintels, doorposts and catacombs), the most serious of places for the Jewish community. And the inscriptions on the zodiacs themselves were invariably in Hebrew, even if the common languages of the day, Aramaic or Greek were added. That is, the zodiacs were important and meant something to the people who made them. The question is: What? It is time to suggest some conclusions.

The evidence indicates that we are in the presence of a mystical Hellenistic-Byzantine Jewish tradition, a tradition that Talmudic Judaism either ignored or suppressed, a tradition we would not know anything about (for it left no literature) were it not for the discovery of this artwork, these symbols. The mosaics are in fact the literature of the movement. We need to learn how to read them.

Στο πραόν άρθρο συγκεντρώνονται οι πληροφορίες από τις δύο επιστολές όσον αφορά στη φυσιογνωμία και την προέλευση των διαφορετικών αυτών αξιωμάτων.
