Οι βιβλικοί ερμηνευτές χρησιμοποιούν τη λέξη "φαντασία" όλο και πιο συχνά, αλλά σε κάθε περίπτωση η λέξη "φαντασία" έχει διαφορετικό περιεχόμενο. Προκειμένου να καταστεί δυνατή μια περισσότερο συστηματική εφαρμογή της "φαντασίας" στην ερμηνευτική και στις παλαιοδιαθηκικές σπουδές γενικά, είναι ανάγκη να αναζητηθούν οι πιθανές χρήσεις της λέξης. Το παρόν άρθρο συμπεριλαμβάνει: 1) μία θεωρητική εισαγωγή που αναπτύσσει περαιτέρω όσα οι Barth και Steck έγραψαν στο κλασικό τους έργο για τις εξηγητικές μεθόδους, 2) ένα τμήμα σχετικό με τη φαντασία και την ιστορία, 3) μία ευρετική έρευνα της χρήσης από μέρους του Bruegemann της λέξης "φαντασία", 4) κάποιες σκέψεις για το πώς η φαντασία περιορίζεται από τις παραμέτρους του χρόνου και του τόπου. Στο άρθρο γίνεται μία διάκριση μεταξύ της φαντασίας των αρχαίων και των ανθρώπων σήμερα, αλλά επίσης πραγματεύεται και την αλληεπίδραση των δύο. Επιπλέον συζητά την ενημερωμένη, ελεγχόμενη χρήση της φαντασίας στην ερμηνευτική. Μετά από ένα σύντομο σχόλιο για την "ηθική φαντασία", το άρθρο καταλήγει σε μία έρευνα και καταγραφή των χρήσεων της φαντασίας στην ερμηνευτική. Από αυτήν καθίσταται σαφές πώς οι διάφορες αντιλήψεις που συνδέονται με τη λ. "φαντασία" συνδέονται μεταξύ τους και γιατί είναι σημαντικό να τις αντιμετωπίσουμε ως αλληλεξαρτώμενες ιδέες. Μολονότι η πλειονότητα των παραδειγμάτων προέρχονται από την εβραϊκή Βίβλο, οι σκέψεις που διατυπώνονται εδώ έχουν εφαρμογή και στην Κ.Δ. και στη σχετική με αυτή γραμματεία.

Ο συγγραφέας του άρθρου υποστηρίζει ότι οι πέντε θύρες σχηματίζουν ένα οργανωμένο σχήμα που δομεί τόσο το κείμενο όσο και τον περιγραφόμενο κόσμο και αξιολογεί πώς το κείμενο (επανα)παράγει κοινωνικά το χώρο μέσα σε αυτό το κοινωνικό δίκτυο και θέτει ερωτήματα για το πώς οι διαλεκτικές του χώρου και της αλληλεπίδρασης των χαρακτήρων μπορούν να συνεργάζονται στη διαδικασία συγκρότησης και επανασυγκρότησης του κόσμου, ο οποίος ορίζεται από αυτά τα κεφαλόσκαλα.

Ένα νέο βιβλίο για την οικονομία και την Κ.Δ. / A new book on economics and NT

Κυκλοφόρησε από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Eerdmans ένα νέο πολύ ενδιαφέρον βιβλίο για την οικονομία και την Κ.Δ. Είναι γεγονός ότι τα εργαλεία των κοινωνικών επιστημών συχνά επιστρατεύθηκαν στην προσπάθεια ερμηνευτικής προσέγγισης του κειμένου της Κ.Δ. (κυρίως κατά τις τελευταίες δεκαετίες). Ο όρος "haElohim" στον Κώδικα της Διαθήκης / "haElohim" in the Covenant Code

Στην ιστοσελίδα The Bible and Interpretation έχει αναρτηθεί ένα σύντομο σχόλιο του Stephen Gabriel Rosenberg (W.F.Albright Institute of Archaeological Research, Ιερουσαλήμ) με θέμα τον όρο haElohim που απαντά στο λεγόμενο Κώδικα της Διαθήκης (Έξ 21-23). Ο συγγραφέας αναζητά παράλληλα των νόμων του Κώδικα, όπου απαντά ο όρος, σε νομικά κείμενα του περιβάλλοντος του Ισραήλ και καταλήγει στο συμπέρασμα ότι εδώ ο όρος δηλώνει τους "δικαστές" οι οποίοι απέδιδαν το δίκαιο στις πύλες της πόλεις.
