Πόσο Ιουδαίος ήταν ο Ηρώδης; / How Jewish was Herod?

Ο Ηρώδης αναμφισβήτητα αποτελεί μία αμφιλεγόμενη προσωπικότητα. Οι ιουδαϊκές κι οι χριστιανικές πηγές τον παρουσιάζουν με σκοτεινά χρώματα ως ασεβή, πονηρό και σκληρό ηγεμόνα. Ιδουμαίος στην καταγωγή, παντρεύτηκε την πριγκίπισσα Μαριάμμη και δημιούργησε ισχυρούς δεσμούς με τη δυναστεία των Ασμοναίων. Γρήγορα εξόντωσε τους πολιτικούς του αντιπάλους, δημιούργησε ένα ιερατείο πιστό σε αυτόν και συνέχισε τις καλές σχέσεις με τους Ρωμαίους ακολουθώντας το παράδειγμα του πατέρα του Αντιπάτρου. Μισητός από τους Ιουδαίους που τον είδαν ως ξένο σώμα και τύραννο, αγαπητός στον ελληνικό κόσμο για τις ευεργεσίες του, πιστός σύμμαχος των Ρωμαίων, με μεγάλο έργο ανοικοδόμησης κτιρίων και πόλεων. Περιγραφή εκδοτικού οίκου

Το υπόμνημα του Κυρίλλου Αλεξανδρείας (+444) στη 2 Κορινθίους του αποστόλου Παύλου δεν αποτέλεσε μέχρι σήμερα αντικείμενο επιστημονικής μελέτης. Από αυτό το έργο, το οποίο αρχικά ήταν πολύτομο,  διασώζονται σήμερα μόνο αποσπάσματα. Η παρούσα έκδοση είναι η πρώτη πλήρης κριτική παρουσίαση αυτών των αποσπασμάτων και η μετάφρασή τους σε μια σύγχρονη γλώσσα. Η μελέτη παρουσιάζει την πλήρη - ελληνική και συριακή- παράδοση του υπομνήματος και ασχολείται με το ερώτημα του χρόνου συγγραφής του υπομνήματος, τη γλώσσα του καθώς και την αρχική του δομή κι έκταση. Η σύνθετη ανάλυση της γλώσσας και του περιεχομένου του οδηγεί στην κατανόηση του πρωτότυπου τρόπου έκφρασης του αλεξανδρινού Πατριάρχη καθώς και της εξηγητικής μεθόδου που ακολουθεί.  Η μελέτη κλείνει με μία παρουσίαση των κύριων θεμάτων του υπομνήματος καθώς και με μία παρουσίαση των ερμηνευτικών-εξηγητικών αρχών, που ακολουθεί ο Κύριλλος στην ανάλυση του παύλειου κειμένου. Ένα παράρτημα, υπό τύπον λεξικού, όπου σημειώνονται οι ιδιαίτερες εκφράσεις που χαρακτηρίζουν τη γραφή του Κυρίλλου, συμπληρώνει την έκδοση.
