Ελληνιστικά τείχη της Θεσσαλονίκης; / Hellenistic walls of Thessaloniki?

Ένα ενδιαφέρον και μάλλον αινιγματικό εύρημα παρουσιάστηκε κατά την 32η επιστημονική συνάντηση για το αρχαιολογικό έργο στη Μακεδονία και Θράκη από την Γενική Έφορο Αρχαιοτήτων Ελένη Βελένη. Πρόκειται για τμήμα μίας πρώιμης κατασκευής τείχους με πράσινο σχιστόλιθο που ίσως αλλάζουν τη μέχρι σήμερα εικόνα για το σχήμα και τα τείχη της πόλης κατά την ελληνιστική περίοδο. Εάν η υπόθεση ισχύει, τότε η Θεσσαλονίκη των ελληνιστικών χρόνων ήταν αρχικά μια μακρόστενη πόλη με ορεινά και πεδινά μέρη η οποία ξεκινούσε από την Άνω Πόλη κι έφτανε μέχρι τη θάλασσα. Αυτήν την υπόθεση ενισχύει το εύρημα ενός παρόμοιου τείχους στον ίδιο άξονα με κατεύθυνση προς τα νότια. Περισσότερα θα παρουσιαστούν σε συνέδριο σχετικά με τα αρχαιολογικά ευρήματα της πόλης τον Απρίλιο 2019.
