Οι πολιτικές χρήσεις ενός αγάλματος / The political uses of a statue

Δεν είναι μόνο τα κείμενα της Καινής Διαθήκης που γίνονται χρηστικά εργαλεία για τη νομιμοποίηση ιδεολογικών ή πολιτιτικών συστημάτων, όπως, για παράδειγμα το Ρωμ 13, το οποίο απασχόλησε τη βιβλική κοινότητα αυτόν το μήνα. Αγάλματα, πίνακες, κτίρια, μνημεία γίνονται φορείς πολιτικών μηνυμάτων και αξιοποιούνται στο αφήγημα διαφόρων ιδεολογιών. Το φορτίο μνήμης που φέρουν επαναπροσδιορίζεται μέσα σε νέες συνάφειες και αποκτά νέα σημασία. Αυτό προκύπτει, για παράδειγμα, από την περίπτωση του περίφημου Δισκοβόλου του Μύρωνος, ενός αγάλματος που απετέλεσε μέτρο αρμονίας και ομορφιάς κατά την αρχαιότητα αλλά και φορέας πολιτικών μηνυμάτων.
