Ενα κείμενο σχετικά με τα πρόσωπα που κρύβονται πίσω από το απόκρυφο Ευαγγέλιο της Συζύγου του Ιησού, το οποίο δημοσιεύθηκε στο διαδίκτυο στη σελίδα του ηλ. περιοδικού The Atlantic απασχολεί αυτές τις μέρες τους ειδικούς. Επιπλέον, φαίνεται ότι οδήγησε τελικά και την Karen King, που πρώτη παρουσίασε πριν μερικά χρόνια το απόκρυφο σε συνέδριο, να παραδεχτεί ότι ίσως τελικά το χειρόγραφο ήταν πλαστό:
