Η σπουδαιότητα των Μικρών Προφητών / The importance of the Minor Prophets

Στην ιστοσελίδα The Bible and Interpretation έχει αναρτηθεί ένα νέο σύντομο κείμενο της καθ. της Π.Δ. στο Θεολογικό Σεμινάριο του Lancaster Julia M. O'Brien με θέμα τη σπουδαιότητα των λεγόμενων Μικρών Προφητών (αλλά και όλων των προφητικών βιβλίων της Π.Δ. γενικότερα). Από το κείμενο σταχυολογούμε δύο ενδιαφέροντα κατά τη γνώμη μας σημεία:

"I’m not particularly interested in the historical Amos, and I don’t think I want to know the historical Nahum. When I analyze how a book portrays a prophet, I’m not looking for clues to an actual person. Rather, I’m trying to understand the rhetorical and ideological interests of the writer(s), as well as their interaction with the ideological interests of readers. How does this text imagine the world and what are the social, political, and ethical implications of that construal? What work might this text have done in the ancient world? What work does it do on contemporary readers? ...The ideological weight of prophetic books, it seems, is not just the concern of academics. But academics can offer careful analysis about how and why the prophets are being used the way they are. What assumptions allow someone to move directly from the ending of Amos to specific land claims? Does the rest of the book complicate that understanding? Is Jonah truly an anti-nationalist manifesto? What is the ideological import of this tale of a reluctant prophet?"

Βρέθηκε τμήμα τείχους της Ιερουσαλήμ της εποχής του Πρώτου Ναού / Discovery of First Temple period wall in Jerusalem

Αναρτήθηκε σήμερα η είδηση της ανεύρεσης τμήματος δρόμου και τειχών στην Ιερουσαλήμ, τα οποία χρονολογούνται στην εποχή του Πρώτου Ναού (κατά μία εκτίμηση της εποχής του Σολομώντος). Το τμήμα του τείχους έχει έκταση 70 μέτρα και βρέθηκε στην περιοχή γνωστή ως Ophel, ανάμεσα στην πόλη του Δαυίδ και στο νότιο τείχος του όρους του Ναού. Στο φως ήρθαν μία εσωτερική πόλη που οδηγούσε στη βασιλική περιοχή της πόλης, ένας βασιλικό κτίριο δίπλα σε αυτήν κι ένας πύργος που έβλεπε προς την κοιλάδα Kidron.

Ένας συλλογικός τόμος για τη μετάφραση των Ο΄ / A new book on Septuaginta

Από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht κυκλοφόρησε ένας συλλογικός τόμος αφιερωμένος σε ζητήματα της μετάφρασης των Ο΄ και ειδικότερα σε κείμενα της ελληνικής Π.Δ., όπου διασώζονται δύο διαφορετικές μεταφράσεις ή όπου η ελληνική μετάφραση είναι κατά λέξη.

Κατά τις τελευταίες τρεις δεκαετίες έχει αυξηθεί το ενδιαφέρον για τη μετάφραση των Ο΄. Αυτό οφείλεται εν μέρει και στα μεταφραστικά προγράμματα του κειμένου των Ο΄ που εκπονήθηκαν ή εκπονούνται τα τελευταία χρόνια. Ένα τέτοιο πρόγραμμα είναι το La Biblie d´Alexandrie, το οποίο έχει ήδη εκδώσει 16 τόμους. Ένα άλλο πρόγραμμα είναι το γνωστό Septuaginta Deutsch (LXX.D), το οποίο το 2009 εξέδωσε τη γερμανική μετάφραση του κειμένου των Ο΄(είχαμε αναφερθεί σε αυτήν σε παλαιότερη ανάρτηση). Τώρα ετοιμάζεται ένας τόμος με σχόλια. Οι μελέτες του τόμου είναι οι εισηγήσεις που διαβάστηκαν σε ένα συνέδριο Γάλλων και Γερμανών ειδικών στο Στρασβούργο το 2004.

Ανεύρεση υδραγωγείου στην Ιερουσαλήμ / An ancient aqueduct in Jerusalem

Στην επίσημη ιστοσελίδα της Υπηρεσίας Αρχαιοτήτων του Ισραήλ (IAA) έχει αναρτηθεί η είδηση της ανεύρεσης ενός υδραγωγείου στην Ιερουσαλήμ. Σύμφωνα με το δημοσίευμα το υδραγωγείο χρονολογείται στο 2ο-3ο αι. μ.Χ. (από την εποχή δηλαδή μετά την αποτυχημένη επανάσταση του Bar Kochba, όταν η πόλη είχε μετονομασθεί σε Aelia Capitolina), αν και ο επικεφαλής αρχαιολόγος εκτιμά ότι το υδραγωγείο αρχικά κατασκευάστηκε στην εποχή του Ηρώδη. Σύμφωνα πάντα με το δημοσίευμα η Ιερουσαλήμ υδρευόταν μέχρι το τ. του 1ου αι. π.Χ. από την πηγή Gihon. Η αύξηση του πληθυσμού της ωστόσο οδήγησε στην κατασκευή υδραγωγείων κατά την εποχή του Ηρώδη. Το νερό από τις πηγές των λόφων της Hebron μεταφερόταν στις δεξαμενές του Σολομώντα κι από εκεί διαμοιραζόταν σε δύο υδραγωγεία: του χαμηλού επιπέδου και του υψηλού. Το δεύτερο εξυπηρετούσε τις ανάγκες του τμήματος της πόλης, όπου βρισκόταν το παλάτι του Ηρώδη και η δεξαμενή του Εζεκία. Το πρώτο υδροδοτούσε το Ναό και τη γύρω περιοχή. Το μάκρος του υδραγωγείου του υψηλού επιπέδου από τις δεξαμενές του Σολομώντα έφτανε στα 13 χλμ.
