- Μέρος V: Οι πρόγονοι του Ισραήλ εκτός Γένεσης — Προφήτες, Ψαλμοί, Χρονικά, Νεκρά Θάλασσα, ακόμη και Κοράνι
Το τιμώμενο πρόσωπο του τόμου, Thomas Römer, είναι μία από τις σημαντικότερες μορφές της σύγχρονης έρευνας στην Εβραϊκή Βίβλο. Είναι καθηγητής στο Collège de France από το 2007 στην έδρα “The Hebrew Bible and its Contexts”, ενώ από το 2019 υπηρετεί ως επικεφαλής του ιδρύματος και επανδιορίστηκε εκ νέου το 2025.

The open access volume The Ancestors of Genesis and the Exodus Traditions: A Festschrift for Thomas Römer (BZAW 568, De Gruyter, 2026) has recently been published. The thirty-six studies included in the volume examine questions of literary composition, history of traditions, archaeology, and the reception of biblical texts, with a particular focus on the books of Genesis and Exodus.
The volume is divided into five parts:
- Part I: New Perspectives on the Ancestors of Genesis (Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, etc.)
- Part II: The Ancestral Narratives as a Source for the History and Religion of Israel — including a contribution by Israel Finkelstein on the altars of the patriarchs
- Part III: The Connection between Genesis and Exodus from Redaction-Critical and Traditio-Historical Perspectives
- Part IV: The Exodus Traditions — Moses, Aaron, and the Law at Sinai
- Part V: Israel's Ancestors outside of Genesis — the Prophets, the Psalms, Chronicles, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and even the Qur'an
The honoree of the volume, Thomas Römer, is one of the most significant figures in contemporary research on the Hebrew Bible. He has held the chair of "The Hebrew Bible and its Contexts" at the Collège de France since 2007, and has served as the institution's administrator since 2019, a position to which he was reappointed in 2025.
