Το βιβλίο του Ιώβ αφηγείται την ιστορία ενός ανθρώπου που βρίσκεται αντιμέτωπος με το μεγάλο πρόβλημα του πόνου. Εκτός από την απώλεια των δικών του και της περιουσίας του βιώνει τον πόνο και στο δικό του σώμα. Η ασθένεια του σώματός του οδηγεί και στην κοινωνική περιθωριοποίηση. Καθώς το σώμα είναι αυτό που εξασφαλίζει τη συμμετοχή του ατόμου στην κοινωνία και αντιπροσωπεύει στον αρχαίο Ισραήλ την κοινωνική ενότητα, ο Ιώβ επιθυμεί ένα άρτιο σώμα ως το ιδανικό. Για τους αρχαίους Ισραηλίτες το άρτιο σώμα ήταν αγνό, πραγματικό και αποδεκτό. Με αυτά τα ζητήματα ασχολείται ο συγγραφέας στην παρούσα μελέτη και προσπαθεί να καταδείξει την επίδραση που έχει αυτή η αντίληψης περί σώματος στην κοινωνικοθρησκευτική δομή της αρχαίας ισραηλιτικής κοινωνίας.

Στη μελέτη αυτή εξετάζεται η αντιπαράθεση μεταξύ του ιερέα Αμασία και του προφήτη Αμώς στο Αμώς 7,10-17 με τη βοήθεια κειμένων της αρχαίας Εγγύς Ανατολής, όπου παρουσιάζεται η στάση της βασιλείας απέναντι στην προφητεία. Έτσι προκύπτει ότι η αντίδραση του Αμασία έχει περισσότερο πολιτικά κίνητρα και λιγότερο αμιγώς θρησκευτικά. Αν η αφήγηση αναγνωσθεί με αυτόν τον τρόπο, τότε προκύπτουν ενδιαφέροντα στοιχεία για τη πολυπλοκότητα των σχέσεων βασιλέων, ιερέων και προφητών στον αρχαίο Ισραήλ.

Ο συγγραφέας αμφισβητεί την επικρατούσα άποψη ότι το Κρ 2,6-9 είναι προϊόν της αναθεώρησης του χωρίου και υποστηρίζει ότι αντίθετα αποτελεί μία αναφορά στο Κρ 1,27-2,5 και μία επανεκτίμηση των όσων παρατίθενται στα Ιησ 14-24. O Ψα 144, ο οποίος χαρακτηρίζεται ως "βασιλικός ψαλμός" ξεκινά με μία προσευχή για βοήθεια στη μάχη (1-11) και συνεχίζει με μία περιγραφή της ευδαιμονίας (12-15). Ο συνδυασμός αυτών των δύο θεμάτων απαντά και σε διάφορα βασιλικά κείμενα της Μεσοποταμίας, στα οποία ο βασιλιάς παρουσιάζεται ως ο ηρωικός πολεμιστής και η αιτία της ευημερίας. Με βάση αυτά ο Ψαλμός εκτιμάται ότι είναι η έκφραση μίας παρόμοιας ισραηλιτικής ιδεολογίας.

R.E. Tappy, “Historical and Geographical Notes on the "Lowland Districts" of Judah in Joshua xv 33-47”, 381-403

Το κείμενο Ιησ 33-47 με τις τρεις γεωγραφικές επαρχίες, για τις οποίες κάνει λόγο και τις τρεις πόλεις των Φιλισταίων, που συνδέονται με αυτές, εγείρει ερωτήματα ιστορικής και γεωγραφικής φύσης. Οι ερμηνευτές θεωρούν ότι η αναφορά των τριών πόλεων είναι μεταγενέστερη προσθήκη, παραμένει όμως αναπάντητο το ερώτημα ποιες είναι οι ιστορικές συνθήκες που οδήγησαν σε αυτήν την προσθήκη. Ο συγγραφέας θεωρεί ότι το ιστορικό γεγονός που προκάλεσε αυτήν την προσθήκη είναι η τρίτη εκστρατεία του Σενναχερίμπ στα 701 π.Χ.

R. Whitekettle, “Forensic Zoology: Animal Taxonomy and Rhetorical Persuasion in Psalm l”, 404-419

Ο Ψα 1, 9-11 και 12 απορρίπτει την ισραηλιτική άποψη ότι ο Θεός έχει ανάγκη από θυσίες ζώων κι ως αντεπιχείρημα προβάλλει ότι ο Θεός έχει ήδη στην κατοχή του ζώα. Η θυσία ζώων αντιπαρατίθεται στα τέσσερα είδη ζώων που κατέχει ο Θεός. Ο συγγραφέας διακρίνει εδώ μία τριμερή διαβάθμιση: ταύροι και κριοί για τη θυσία (στ.9) -τέσσερα είδη ζώων (στ.10-11) -όλα τα ζώα/τα πάντα (στ.12). Με αυτόν τον τρόπο δομεί ο ψαλμωδός τη θέση του ότι οι θυσίες των ζώων είναι ανεπαρκείς και ότι ο Θεός επιτιμά τους Ισραηλίτες για τις θυσίες των ζώων, επειδή με αυτόν τον τρόπο παρανοούν την πραγματική φύση του Θεού.

Το Παρ 3,13-18 έμμεσα αναφέρεται στο όνειρο του Σολομώντα στο 1 Βασ 3,4-15 (Μασωρ.) και 2 Χρον 1, 6-13 (Μασωρ.) και αναπτύσσει με κάθε τρόπο την υπόσχεση που δόθηκε εκεί στο βασιλέα.
