Με θλίψη πληροφορήθηκα την εκδημία ενός καινοδιαθηκολόγου της προηγούμενης γενιάς που μας άφησε μια σειρά από εξαιρετικές μελέτες και ένα παράδειγμα ακαδημαϊκού ήθους. Πρόκειται για τον αγαπητό μου Petr Pokorný, ομότιμο καθηγητή της Θεολογικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου του Καρόλου στην Πράγα. Ο εκλιπών σπούδασε ευαγγελική θεολογία στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Πράγας όπου και υπέβαλε τη διδακτορική του διατριβή. Από το 1972 διετέλεσε καθηγητής στο ίδιο Πανεπιστήμιο μέχρι τη συνταξιοδότησή του το 2005. Λάτρης της Ελλάδας και των ελληνικών, τα οποία μιλούσε αρκετά καλά, επισκέφτηκε και το Τμήμα μας πριν αρκετά χρόνια. Τον γνώριζα ως μέλος του Colloquium Oecumenicum Paulinum, ένας άνθρωπος ζεστός και χαμηλών τόνων, με εξαιρετική ευγένεια και διάκριση. Ανάμεσα στα πολλά του άρθρα και μελέτες ξεχωρίζω τα υπομνήματά του στην προς Κολασσαείς (1987) και Εφεσίους (1992) καθώς και τη μελέτη του για τη θεολογία του κατά Λουκάν ευαγγελίου (Theologie der lukanischen Schriften, 1988). Ας είναι αιωνία η μνήμη του.

Η κλήση του Μωυσή και του Γεδεών / Moses' and Gideon's Calling

Η Deena Grant συγκρίνει τις αφηγήσεις για την κλήση του Μωυσή και του Γεδεών στην Παλαιά Διαθήκη στο άρθρο της στην ιστοσελίδα TheTorah. Καταλήγει στο συμπέρασμα ότι σε αυτές ο Γεδεών εμφανίζεται περισσότερο πιστός και υπάκουος στον Θεό. Κι οι δύο ήρωες, ωστόσο, εκφράζουν τις αμφιβολίες τους για την κλήση τους, κάτι όμως που δεν εμποδίζει τελικά τον Θεό να τους καταστήσει αγγελιοφόρους του:
