Βρέθηκε η αρχαία Εμμαούς; / Has ancient Emmaus been found?

Σύμφωνα με πρόσφατο δημοσίευμα της εφημερίδας Haaretz αρχαιολογική ομάδα που εργάζεται στην τοποθεσία Kiriath Yearim υποστηρίζει ότι τα ευρήματα που έφεραν στο φως εκεί ταυτίζονται με την αρχαία πόλη Εμμαούς γνωστή από το ρόλο της τόσο στην ιστορία του ιουδαϊκού λαού όσο και από την ιστορία εμφάνισης του αναστημένου Ιησού στους μαθητές του σύμφωνα με το κατά Λουκάν ευαγγέλιο. Η ακριβής τοποθεσία της Εμμαούς αποτελεί ένα ανοικτό θέμα στην έρευνα, καθώς οι αρχαίες πηγές ορίζουν διαφορετικές τοποθεσίες για αυτήν. Οι αρχαιολόγοι που εργάζονται στο Kiriath Yearim κάτω από την καθοδήγηση των Israel Finkelstein (Πανεπιστήμιο του Tel Aviv) και Thomas Römer (College de France) έφεραν στο φως μέρος της οχύρωσης της πόλης και διάφορα άλλα ευρήματα που επιβεβαιώνουν την χρήση της από τα ελληνιστικά χρόνια έως και τα χρόνια του πρώτου Ιουδαϊκού Πολέμου. Σύμφωνα με τους ίδιους αυτά τα ευρήματα φαίνεται να συμφωνούν με τις πληροφορίες που έχουμε από τον Ιώσηπο αλλά και από το κατά Λουκάν ευαγγέλιο σχετικά με την Εμμαούς:
