Η λατρεία του Διόνυσου στην αρχαία Φιλιππούπολη / The Dionysos cult in ancient Philippopolis

Η νέα επιγραφή για τη λατρεία του Διονύσου (Φωτο: podtepeto.com)

Πριν λίγες μέρες αρχαιολόγοι που εργάζονται στην ανασκαφή της βασιλικής του 5ου αι. μ.Χ. στην Φιλιππούπολη (Plovdiv) της Βουλγαρίας εντόπισαν μία μαρμάρινη πλάκα με επιγραφή στα ελληνικά, η οποία διασώζει τα ονόματα των μελών ενός θιάσου λατρευτών του θεού Διονύσου. Η επιγραφή κάνει λόγο για μυστήρια του Διονύσου, ενώ υπάρχουν ενδείξεις ότι η λατρεία του θεού συνδεόταν με τη λατρεία του αυτοκράτορα. Η επιγραφή προσφέρει σημαντικές πληροφορίες για τη λατρεία του Διονύσου στην περιοχή αλλά και για την προσωπογραφία της αρχαίας Φιλιππούπολης:

Fergus Millar (5.7.1935-15.7.2019)

Έφυγε από τη ζωή ο γνωστός ιστορικός, καθηγητής της Αρχαίας Ιστορίας στην Οξφόρδη, Fergus Millar. O εκλιπών διετέλεσε εκδότης του περιοδικού Journal of Roman Studies και πρόεδρος της British Classical Association καθώς και μέλος της Βρετανικής Ακαδημίας. Οι μελέτες του με θέμα τη ρωμαϊκή αυτοκρατορία συνέβαλαν ουσιαστικά στη μελέτη των ρωμαϊκών χρόνων και της σχέσης Ρώμης και Ελλάδας.
