Μαρία η Μαγδαληνή, Μαρία η μητέρα του Κυρίου και μια πληθώρα άλλων γυναικών έχουν αφήσει τα ίχνη τους στη ζωή της αρχαίας Εκκλησίας, τα οποία δυστυχώς στη συνέχεια σκέπασαν δομές περισσότερο πατριαρχικές. Το βιβλίο της Ally Kateusz αποπειράται να εντοπίσει τα ίχνη αυτών των γυναικών μέσα στα μνημεία της αρχαίας Εκκλησίας και να καταδείξει το ρόλο τους:
