Ένα κεραμικό θραύσμα με την παράσταση της αιγυπτιακής θεότητας Βησά (Bes) βρέθηκε πρόσφατα στην Ιερουσαλήμ κι είναι η σημαντικότερη αρχαιολογική είδηση της ημέρας. Είναι η πρώτη παράσταση του θεού που εντοπίζεται στην περιοχή, κάτι που καθιστά το αναπάντεχο εύρημα ιδιαίτερα σημαντικό. Οι παραστάσεις της θεότητας είχαν αποτροπαϊκό χαρακτήρα. Παρά την τρομακτική του μορφή ο θεός φαίνεται πως έδιωχνε το κακό με το γέλιο που προκαλούσε. Το εύρημα της Ιερουσαλήμ χρονολογείται κατά την περσική περίοδο (5ος-4ος αι. π.Χ.), όταν η λατρεία του αιγυπτιακού θεού ήταν ιδιαίτερα διαδεδομένη στην περιοχή.

Αρχαιολόγοι εντόπισαν στο βυθισμένο αρχαίο λιμάνι του Ηρακλείου Αιγύπτου ένα ενδιαφέρον ναυάγιο. Πρόκειται κατά την εκτίμηση των ειδικών για το ναυάγιο μίας βάριδος, αιγυπτιακού πλοιαρίου, το οποίο μέχρι σήμερα ήταν γνωστό μόνο από τις φιλολογικές πηγές. Το συγκεκριμένο πλοιάριο είχε εντυπωσιάσει τον ιστορικό Ηρόδοτο, ο οποίος την είχε περιγράψει με πολλές λεπτομέρειες στις Ιστορίες του:

Ένα νέο βιβλίο σχετικά με τις αντιλήψεις για την ιεραποστολή κυκλοφορεί από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Mohr Siebeck στη σειρά WUNT (σειρά ΙΙ). Πρόκειται για τις εισηγήσεις που διαβάστηκαν σε συνέδριο που έλαβε χώρα το 2014. Έχοντας ως σημείο εκκίνησης το Μτ 28,18-19 οι εισηγητές του συνεδρίου διερεύνησαν την ιστορία πρόσληψης του συγκεκριμένου κειμένου ως θεμελιώδους κειμένου της χριστιανικής ιεραποστολής αλλά και τα προβλήματα της χριστιανικής ιεραποστολής από την αρχαιότητα μέχρι σήμερα.
