Ιερουσαλήμ: μια ιουδαϊκή πόλη

Από το ιστολόγιο PaleoJudaica πληροφορούμαστε ότι στο ηλεκτρονικό περιοδικό Jewish Political Studies Review δημοσιεύεται ένα ενδιαφέρον άρθρο για τον τρόπο που αντιμετώπισαν οι αρχαίες πηγές την Ιερουσαλήμ. Παρουσιάζεται η μαρτυρία είκοσι και επιπλέον αρχαίων πηγών από τον 3ο αι. π.Χ. έως και 3ο αι. μ.Χ. Ο συγγραφέας υποστηρίζει ότι αντίθετα από την άποψη την οποία υποστηρίζουν ορισμένοι επιστήμονες, οι αρχαίες πηγές θεωρούν πάντοτε την Ιερουσαλήμ μία ιουδαϊκή πόλη. Παρά τα πολιτικά κίνητρα του συγγραφέα του συγκεκριμένου άρθρου (βλ. τον πρόλογο-περίληψη του άρθρου του), οι συγκεκριμένες πηγές παρουσιάζονται με μεθοδικότητα και δίνεται η δυνατότητα στον αναγνώστη να σχηματίσει μία σαφή εικόνα σχετικά με τον τρόπο που διάφοροι αρχαίοι συγγραφείς έβλεπαν την Ιερουσαλήμ κατά την αρχαιότητα.

Η σύγχρονη έρευνα έχει καταλήξει στο συμπέρασμα ότι τα χειρόγραφα του κανόνα της εβραϊκής Βίβλου είναι έργο μίας μικρής ελίτ, η οποία δεν προσπάθησε να τα διαδώσει στα ευρύτερα στρώματα του πληθυσμού που μιλούσε εβραϊκά είχε όμως χαμηλό μορφωτικό επίπεδο. Ωστόσο τα ίδια τα κείμενα περιέχουν μία σειρά από χωρία, όπου δίνεται η εντολή για διάδοση του περιεχομένου των βιβλίων της Π.Δ. (π.χ. Δευτ 31,10-13) και από περιστατικά, όπου διάφορα πρόσωπα προσπαθούν να επηρεάσουν την κοινή πίστη και θρησκ. πρακτική (π.χ. 1 Βασ 18,17-40). Αυτές οι βιβλικές εντολές και ιστορίες συχνά πείθουν ότι υπήρχε μια κάποια τάση "διάδοσης της θεολογικής διδασκαλίας" ανάμεσα στους Γιαχβιστές της προελληνιστικής εποχής. Τα νέα συμπεράσματα της έρευνας υποστηρίζονται και από τα πορίσματα ανθρωπολόγων σχετικά με τη διάδοση της θεολογικής διδασκαλίας γενικότερα.

Nyasha Junior & Jeremy Schipper, "Mosaic Disability and Identity in Exodus 4:10; 6:12, 30", 428-441

Στο βιβλίο της Εξόδου, σε τρία χωρία (4,10, 6,12.30) ο Μωυσής περιγράφει τον εαυτό του ως βραδύγλωσσο. Αυτές οι αναφορές εμφανίζονται σε στιγμές της βιβλικής αφήγησης, όπου το θέμα είναι οι περίπλοκες σχέσεις Εβραίων και Αιγυπτίων. Με τη βοήθεια των πορισμάτων των σπουδών για την αναπηρία (disability studies) ο συγγραφέας εξετάζει την προσωπικότητα του Μωυσή στο βιβλίο της Εξόδου και υποστηρίζει ότι αυτή η αναφορά του Μωυσή στην αναπηρία του είναι κάτι παραπάνω από μία δικαιολογία για να μην αναλάβει τη θεϊκή αποστολή. Ταυτόχρονα τον βοηθά να αποφύγει ερωτήσεις σχετικά με την ταυτότητα της ομάδας του.

Με αφορμή τη μεγάλη συζήτηση σχετικά με αυτό το ζήτημα στις ΗΠΑ ο συγγραφέας αναζητά μέσα στα κείμενα της εβραϊκής και χριστιανικής Βίβλου στοιχεία σχετικά με τη στάση της απέναντι στη σύναψη τέτοιων σχέσεων. Στη συνέχεια χρησιμοποιεί το βιβλίο της Ρουθ ως παράδειγμα για να δείξει, το οποίο συχνά χρησιμοποιήθηκε ως παράδειγμα από όσους υποστηρίζουν ότι η Βίβλο δέχεται τις ομοφυλοφιλικές σχέσεις (βλ. Ρουθ-Νεεμίν). Ο συγγρ. προτείνει μια διαφορετική ανάγνωση του κειμένου, όπου η Μωαβίτισσα αλλογενής Ρουθ μπορεί να γίνει πρόγονος του βασιλιά Δαυίδ έστω κι αν ο Νόμος σαφώς δηλώνει ότι οι Μωαβίτες δε μπορούν να ανήκουν στο λαό του Ισραήλ. Υπό αυτήν την έννοια το βιβλίο αυτό θα μπορούσε να γίνει ένα παράδειγμα για εκείνους που αναζητούν στη Βίβλο περιστατικά νομιμοποίησης γάμων που δεν είναι γενικά αποδεκτοί από το Μωσαϊκό Νόμο.

Ο συγγραφέας χρησιμοποιεί το έργο του χαρτογράφου John Speed για να μελετήσει τον τρόπο που λειτουργεί η συλλογική μνήμη του Ιωνά στις συζητήσεις του 16ου και 17ου αι. Εξετάζει επίσης τρία κηρύγματα της εποχής του Speed και παρουσιάζει την ανάπτυξη της συλλογικής μνήμης του βιβλικού κειμένου (στην περίπτωση του Ιωνά) και τη σύνδεσή του με θέματα εθνικής ταυτότητας. Υποστηρίζει ότι η επιλογή από τον John Speed απεικόνισης βιβλικών θεμάτων συνδέεται άμεσα με την γέννηση κατά τον 16ο και 17ο αιώνα εθνικιστικών και ιμπεριαλιστικών τάσεων στην Αγγλία.

Χρονολόγηση των κειμένων της Κ.Δ. (Λουκάς και Ματθαίος)

Στη σειρά των άρθρων του για τη χρονολόγηση της Κ.Δ. ο M. Goodacre δημοσίευσε σήμερα ένα ακόμη μικρό κείμενο σχετικά με τη χρονολόγηση του κατά Ματθαίον και του κατά Λουκά από τον J. A. T. Robinson (Redating the New Testament) στα χρόνια πριν από το 70 μ.Χ. Το βασικό του επιχείρημα είναι ότι αυτά τα κείμενα δεν κάνουν σαφώς λόγο για την καταστροφή του Ναού. Παρουσιάζει μάλιστα ως παράλληλο παράδειγμα την προφητεία του Ιησού υιού του Ανανία, για την οποία κάνει λόγο ο Ιώσηπος (Ιουδαϊκός Πόλεμος). Ο Goodacre παρατηρεί ότι η προφητεία αυτή παρατίθεται σε ένα κείμενο μετά το 70 μ.Χ. και θεωρεί ότι έχει ακριβώς την ίδια λειτουργία μέσα στο κείμενο του Ιωσήπου, όπως και η προφητεί του Ιησού στα κείμενα των ευαγγελίων.

Συνάντηση Ιουδαϊσμού και Ελληνισμού

Από τη σελίδα The Bible and Interpretation πληροφορούμαστε για την ανάρτηση ενός ενδιαφέροντος άρθρου στην ιστοσελίδα της American Chronicle σχετικά με την συνάντηση Ιουδαϊσμού και Ελληνισμού. Αφορμή είναι η θέση κάποιων ιστορικών των Σκοπίων σχετικά με τη μη ελληνικότητα των αρχαίων Μακεδόνων. Με αφορμή το γεγονός ότι στις ιουδαϊκές πηγές οι Μακεδόνες θεωρούνται Έλληνες, η συγγραφέας του άρθρου, Clare Goldfarb παρουσιάζει μία σειρά από αρχαίες πηγές σχετικά με τη συνάντηση Ιουδαϊσμού και Ελληνισμού (μέσω των Μακεδόνων).
